Maria&Her Siblings 3: How The Hernandez Children Spend Their Christmas Eve
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day of the Christmas party came, but Maria was still sick in her bed. Maria's health had improved, but she still couldn't go outside. "Why can't I go the the party?" Maria asked, frustrated. Then, mother would always say, "Do you want to make all the people at the party sick like you?" At that, Maria had to shake her head and say, "Okay... you're right."
At this dreaded moment(for Maria) Bella was singing a carol and dressing up for the party. Bella thought that she was very lucky to go to the party alone, among the four children. Maria was sick and couldn't go to the party even though she wanted to go to the party as much as Bella. Bella pitied her sister, but she couldn't stop herself from smiling. Ava on the other hand didn't want to go to the party. Bella knew that Ava would love the Christmas treats, but Ava didn't liked the part that she should dress up like Christmas. Once, Ava pretended to be a sign that said, "Christmas". She thought that dressing up like Christmas meant that. But, as you may guess, the people all over the place laughed at Ava(at that moment, Ava didn't even know why they were laughing until Maria told her). She was very embarrassed and ran out of the party. From that moment, she had promised herself that she won't ever return to that stupid party again in her life(it may sound like a stupid reason to miss the party, but Ava was a proud person who didn't like being laughed at). Mean while, Jack was a tricky one. He loved parties, he loved treats, he loved to dress up, but he had a feeling that he shouldn't go to the party because he didn't believe in Christianity. It really didn't matter, but Jack was a conscientious person and he won't go to anywhere or do anything that he wasn't related to.
She was still humming a famous Christmas song, 'Jingle Bells' when mother came in to her room. Mother's face instantly turned into a smile as she saw what Bella was dressing up like. Bella had dressed up like 'Princess Santa'. She wore a long thick robe of the color of red and white, she wore a hat like the one Santa wore. The difference was that this hat was shaped like a normal hat. "Isabella, you look wonderful." mother complimented as she handed a small present bag(what Santa carried-the difference was that this bag contained treats, not presents) to Bella. "Mother, is father at the kindergarten? Maybe dressed as a reindeer?" Bella joked. Mother laughed silently at this comment. Every Christmas eve, father would always dress up like Christmas like the school party. Last year, he had dressed up like Santa. The last last year, he had been a Christmas tree. The last last last year, he had been a Star of the Christmas tree.
Bella still had the photo of father dressed up as a Santa's Present Bag, what he called SPB. (Ava secretly called SPB Stupid Poop Box.) One day, father was to busy getting dressed up, he missed the bus witch go to the kindergarten. He had to walk there, and it took him an awfully long time. Both father and mother didn't have a car, so the Hernandez children usually walked to schools if they missed the school bus. So, it was nothing special for father to do the same. That brought Bella from daydreaming. She had to finish up and catch the bus. Or, she will have to walk to the Christmas party whether she like it or not.
When Bella was running to catch the bus, Ava was running too. Today was Ava's most important day in her life. Today was the day of the long running race witch contained running, jumping, and swimming. Ava had invited her family to this race, but Maria was sick, Bella was going to the party, and Jack had his volunteer work. Mother had to take care of Maria and father had to go to work. Ava felt left alone, but she didn't really care much about it. The referee blow his whistle. Game on!
Mean while, Jack was walking around picking trash with his stick. Jack dreamed of being an environmental researcher one day. He loved plants and animals. In his 6th birthday, Ava had gave him a freshly killed butterfly. Jack cried at the sight of that. He kissed the butterfly and buried the butterfly. He was young, but he thought a lot and was very clever. He would never kill an innocent animal(or plants) with out a reason.
He had already became friends with some of the birds. When he called the birds, (he named them Winder, Ginder, and Sinder) they would swoop from the trees and teasingly pick his ears with their pointy little beaks.
As the children spend their Christmas eve worthwhile or futility, they had each learned an important lesson that will help them sooner or later.
