Sometimes, I wonder if my mother really found me under the bridge and
took me home; as she always say when I don’t behave myself.
But today’s case made sure that my mother is a total idiot who doesn’t understand
her daughter’s thoughts, or she is my stepmother.
The terrible case started this morning, when I had finished handing out
my birthday invitations. I’ve invited all the kids in my class plus the popular
girls-Queany, Silvinia, and Rebecca-and almost everyone said they could come,
except Stacia and Marily. They said they had their dentist appointment, so they
couldn’t come to my party. But I didn’t mind a bit, because my party was going
to be great!
When my mom helped me set the table, the clock was pointing to 2:30.
After 30 minutes, the guests will come. I waited for everyone to come. Soon, it
was 2:50, and then 3:10. But when the clock finally pointed to 5:26, it was definite
that nobody was going to come. My mother was out with Danny-my little, but
naughty brother-and she said she would come at 7:00, when the party was almost
over and it was time to hand out the gifts.
I stood alone in the house, and I needed a response to this action. I
called Queany. She answered the phone a little while later. “Hello?” “Oh! Hi,
Camila!” Then I heard some giggles over the phone. “Why didn’t you come to my
party?” I asked directly. There was some snickers and finally, Queany answered.
“Sorry Camila. I had to go home because I promised Jane that I’ll play with
her. She cries when I don’t play with her.” “You should have at least told me
that you couldn’t come.” More giggles. “Oh, I’m SO SORRY I couldn’t come to
your party. S-O-R-R-Y.” Then Queany hung up. I had some calls to Silvinia and
Rebecca, but they just acted like Queany.
My mother was shocked when she saw the empty house. She tried to sympathize
me and told me that she’d got something great for me now. She said it will help
me feel better. My heart pounded loudly as I ripped the papers. The thing must
be my new phone! I’ve always wanted a phone, but mother and father said that
they’ll get it when I’m older.
When I had finished ripping the papers, I stared at the present. But the
thing staring back at me wasn’t my new phone. A blue, medium-sized book was
sitting on my lap. I quickly realized that this book must be a joke, and my
mother had hidden my phone between the pages of the book. I hold it up, and
shook it. Not a thing-even a tiny little scrub fell from the book. Then, I
realized the horrible truth that was waiting for me. My mother had given me a
DIARY!!!
Urge!!! My friends always brag about their birthday gifts. And Queany
once told me that her mom always buys her a brand new phone every birthday! But
the only thing I got is this silly ugly little book! I’ll never, ever write in
this diary as long as I live!!!
