  • 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away.'

"Angellina! Check this out!" Caroline called from the window. 12, now turning 13 years old Angellina Paliman rubbed her eyes, looking up from her book. "What's it?" Dorothy shook her head. "Probably a lost cat or something." Caroline turned around and put her hands on her hips, looking at Dorothy. "No, it isn't a cat. And don't call Fiancee like that." "Like what?" "A lost cat. She isn't a lost cat. She's a poor cat who's owners trashed her when she was only 1 years old!" "1 year is a pretty long time for a cat." Angellina murmured as she quickly glaced down, avoiding Caroline's mad glare. Caroline snorted then turned her attention back to the window. "I see those puny guys from the soccer game. They're knocking on the next house. Oh, is that Alexander knocking on the door? He looks pretty excited. Maybe his thinking about asking the girl who lives next door to a date that you broke up with him."

Dorothy shot up, her face furious. "What!" Then she noticed that she had shown too much attention. Caroline snickered as Angellina tried to hide her smile with some fake coughs. "I mean, I don't care if or if not Alex makes a new girl friend. I kicked him, and I don't care about him any more." Dorothy said as if she really didn't care. But Angellina caught her sister's eye-brows twitching a little bit. "If you're not interested, I guess I'll just have to go next doors by my self. I want to check out how pretty that new girl is." Caroline said as she stood up. Angellina smiled. "I'll come too. Maybe that girl can be my book-mate." Dorothy coughed nervously as she followed Caroline out the door. "I'm not coming because of Alex. I..er...am just coming to say hi to my new...neighbor!" "Well then, lets go."

The three girls stared at the front gate that was blocking their way. Dorothy kept looking around, definately looking for Alexander. Angellina took a deep breath and pressed the door bell. Ding-dong! Ding-dong! Ding-dong! After some minutes, a pretty girl pocked her head out. She smiled when she saw the three girls. "Oh, hi! My name is Scarlet. Come inside!" Scarlet opened the gate and gestured inside.

The girl's house was decorated reddish apples. Angellina stared at the decoration in wonder as Scarlet disapperaed into the kitchen. "Whoa.. Is this the golden apple from the Greek Myths?" Caroline said as she picked up an apple. "I don't believe it. It's probably an apple painted with gold crayons." Dorothy said. From her ton, it was certain that she was still mad about her ex-boy friend coming to meet Scarlet.

Before Angellina could respond, Scarlet came in, chewing a dried apple and handing some to Angellina, Caroline, and Dorothy. Angellina took it gracefully, but Caroline said that she had cavity and Dorothy just ignored the pleasant fruit. "So, you're the triplets?" Scarlet asked as she chewed on the apple. "No, we're not exactly triplets," Angellina said. "I'm the oldest of us, and Caroline and Dorothy are twins, though all the three of us were born in the same year."

Scarlet nodded expectantly. "Okay," she said as she picked up another apple, this time, a fruity one. "Nice to meet you. I'm Scarlet Genila and I'm a detective." "You're a detective?!" all the three girls shouted at once. Scarlet laughed joyfully. "You three aren't triplets, but you sure act like one." "You are a detective?" Caroline asked. "Have you solved many cases?" Scarlet blushed. "Well...I didn't really solve many cases, but I'm ready to solve one if needed."

The door ball rang. Scarlet hopped to the front door, munching on a second apple. "Hi!" she said cheerfully. "What's the-" "You're a detective, right?" a frantic voice said. The three girls heard Scarlet saying "yes", overwhelmed by the unexpected question. "I have a serious case and I need you right away!!!"
