  • We Are Class Two of Fifth Grade
                                                          -Written by Kayla Kim

"Ever since I was 7 years old, I always wanted to be a Fire Fighter, inspired by my brave father. He was a courageous man who always worked for the country. He never required anything for what he'd done. He was just happy to help the country, and the people living there. He once said, 'You know what's the most important thing in your life?' I replied, 'Um, money?' 'No,' my father said. 'Why? I thought I can't live without money. My teacher told me so, that that's the reason why you guys are aducating me.' I said, rather confused.
"'Then you're taught wrong. We're aducating you not because of money, but I want you to be a respected member of the town. Moreover, money isn't everything. There are more important things than money. Such as love, honesty, responsibility, and mostly, a good heart.' my father concluded. My head was spinning and I felt dizzy, like when I rode the merry-go-round. However, I know understand my father's words because of my very recent experience," my teacher paused. She reached for the bottle of water and drank it. Then she looked at all of us, staring at her.
"Everyone," she said, "I think I have a soar throught. Would someone read The Greatest Fire Fighter of the World?" Nobody readily volunteered. "Oh dear," my teacher sighed. "If nobody's willing to read this instead of me, let's finish this tomorrow," My teacher closed the book and put it on her desk. Then she said in a rather husky voice, "Now that I can't read, let's have a early break time."
Usually, all of my classmates would jump out of their seats and start screaming around and my teacher have to warn them not to. But in this period of an early break time, nobody did. All of my classmates just quietly stood up and started to play, very quietly. I knew why, because I was also in the plot for teachers day, for tomorrow was the big day. The plot was like this:
       1. Make a rolling paper with everybody's complements about our teacher, Mrs. Jean.
       2. Sing a thank you song at the morning period of teacher's day, AKA, tomorrow.
       3. Decorate the rolling paper.
       4. Do this in top secret; so that Mrs. Jean wouldn't know what we're doing, so it'll be a surprise for her.
We were all excited to make this plan into action. And we waited patiently until the next day's morning...
When I came to school, only Kisha, Lurvy, and Petrica were there. I said hi and Kisha came over to me and whispered, "Are you ready?" I nodded enthusiastically and Kisha smiled. Kisha was our class's president, also the head leader of this fantabulous plan. When all the kids arrived at the classroom, Kisha made them stand in a certain place. I was standing near the window, checking if Mrs. Jean is coming.
I poked my head out causiously, because one slip from me would ruin everything. I stayed like that for a couple of minutes. Then I spotted Mrs. Jean walking toward our classroom. I quickly ducked my head inside and waved my hands. Kisha spotted my signal and made everyone stand in their positions.
Finally, Mrs. Jean walked into our classroom. We all began to sing at once.

"So what?" A voice said over my shoulders. I turned around and saw Becky staring at my writing that I'm going to have on our school's newspaper.
"Huh?" I said, confused. "What do you mean?" Becky shook her head and then said, "So what? Exactly who would be interested in a teacher's day project that your class did? Nobody will be interested because they all did the samething!"
"They...did?" I asked. "Yeah," Becky said, "They even did something that is more cooler than your class's."
"Like what?" I inquired. Becky grinned, as if she expected me to say this. "Like what my class did. We threw-up a party and we even prepared cakes!" "Oh, I heard of that incredible party, but I didn't know it was your class." I said, then I quickly covered my mouth. "I...er...mean..."
"It's okay that you want to complement my wonderful party. It was all my idea." Becky said, beaming. "I know, I am the most incredible person in the world."
"More likely to be an un-credible person," I muttered under my breath. "What?" Becky said, "tell me!" "Nothing," I replied. Becky kept begging to tell, then she grew tired of begging. She soon started to breg about her new phone. "My phone is the most greatest phone in the world. It has a brand new set of games, and other great things!" Becky bregged. I smirked. Becky frowned at me and asked, "Why are you smiling? You have something to tell me?" I shrugged as I trashed my writing in the waste basket. "So what?"
