"What do you mean you thought of a theory AND a suspect?" Hazel said as she pulled out her notebook and pen from her pocket.
"I mean I've thought of both, and also at once!" Catherine said excitedly as her eyes glimed of pride.
"What is it?" Erin asked, leaning in closer to hear.
"Do you guys know Angellica?" Catherine asked.
"Nope. Who is she?" Erin asked, eyeing Delia cautiously as Delia rolled her eyes.
"She's a girl from my class," Catherine began. "And she hates me. I suppose it's because I've beat her on our latest P.E. dodgeball. Only I was left on my team and Angellica's team had several kids plus Angellica herself, but it was me versus Angellica. I just knew it in my heart.
"She threw the ball at me, and I caught it and my body shook rather hardly from the catch, and she was furious because I killed all her team mates with just three throws. They booed in the spectaters whenever Angellica dodged the ball even though they're on the same team, probably because she hugged the ball while they were playing, missed every time she threw the ball at me, and importantly, she lunged the opposite direction of the ball, which made her out and lose the game! Pretty tough for princess Angellica, yeah. Getting blamed for losing. Then when P.E. was over, she glared at me evil like.
"The suspicious part is here. The next day, she acted all friendly like and asked me if she could visit my house for good sportsmenship. I was shocked and wanted to say, 'No way I'm inviting you after that P.E. fiasco! Never! And why are you acting so kind to me? Anyway, there's not even a slightest possibility that you can visit my house!' but I had to let her come because all eyes were looking at me, even the P.E. teacher was expecting me to say yes! At least her eyes said so. So I invited her over and we had a terrible time. Then after Angellica left my house, I noticed that my notebook was gone!"
"Whoa, that is a pretty good theory. And you're a pretty good detective, Cathy. I wish I could've joined your detective stand. A shame that it's closed... Anyway, add it to the list, Hazel." Erin said, impressed by her friend's theory.
"I'm adding it," Hazel said sarcastically. "You don't have to order me around, miss know-it-all. And you, notebook girl. When you're talking to your hired detectives, say the important detail and leave the useless details behind. You could've been the boss at your own detective stand and say everything you want, but not here. You're just a simple customor, and that's it."
Erin stared at Hazel in shock. Why was she being picky all of a sudden, like a fizzy soda? No matter why, Erin's two friends' unwelcoming behavior toward Catherine was getting on Erin's nerves.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's between you guys?" Catherine put in before Erin could say something harsh to Hazel. Catherine nervously forced a smile to her face as she stared at the three, spikes flying detectives. "I know it's better to make up as soon as possible with your friends, or you might never talk to them"-Catherine looked at the ground-"and you'd probably don't want that... And you might regret your past behavior toward your friends. Am I right?"
Catherine looked at the three girls as Delia rolled her eyes and Hazel muttered something under her breath. Only Erin nodded politely.
After a long silence, Delia snorted and started to walk away. "Have a good day with your new detective friend." she said coldly to Erin.
Hazel closed her notebook and started walking toward the different direction from where Delia was headed. "I think you could make a detective stand of your own. With your new brilliant detective friend, you'd probably earn tons of laughter and sneers! Now that's what I call a true failure." Then she throw the 'We welcome our new friend, partner, and ally Erin Hitcher to our Eliain detective stand. Proved. Hazel McBride. Delia Hoffins.' papar on the ground and walked away.
Now only Erin remained.
"Wait! Where are you guys going?!" Erin cried behind the two girls but none looked around.
"It'll be just fine. Now, who should we investigate first?" Catherine said in a forced cheery voice.
Erin smiled weakly at her friend as she stopped herself from crying herself a river. Erin turned around a sniffed a little bit. "Oh, just some flower allergy." she added quickly as Catherine worriedly stared at her. "I'd better go home."
She wiped away the hot, streaming tears out of her face as she slowly headed toward home.
