  • Runaway at Night #17

"Okay, I think you girls are really confused, and so I'll explain from the starting." Tom said, as Bianca, Avery, Hera, and Grace sat on a grass field beside Horror House. The lest have gone to release the doll people in the horror house, while the girls waited safely with Tom. The girls have already asked and even pleaded to take all of them to the horror house together for the rescue, but none allowed them to-, except for Abigail, who was afraid to go into the scary place - but who would listen to that small little girl?
"Yes, please do that," Grace muttered, who was a little sulky that she couldn't go together and help them.
Tom straightened his back, and then sighed. "I'm twenty three years old dark magician." He started, "My childhood friend Jake, seventeen aged neighborhood girl Luna, my sister Elina who is just thirteen years old; all of them are dark magicians like me."
"But I thought Jake was in other side of yours," Grace chimed in.
"Indeed he isn't in our side but neither in Bronavora's side - The one you call Miss Nicholl -. None of us are sure which side Jake is in, but he was a formal member of our group. Yes, but later he escaped and didn't appear for a long time. Yet now he returned, but he's very mysterious. He sometimes helps us, but usually he doesn't appear around our tribe. Oh, and plus, Bronavora Hills is a blue magician. You can think it's another type of magicians. It's quite complicated, you know."
"And the most important question. Why did you make the people inside the horror house into dolls and trap us? We thought you were a super bad villain in the universe!" Hera lied down on the grass like the other girls, and yawned. "Oh, and did we sleep lately after all? We didn't even notice that we have been awake for twenty four hours!"
Tom grinned. "Oh, sorry about that. Jake wanted to test whether you girls were worth being a dark magician. We disagreed, but Jake forced us to, and because there won't be any impact on us, we treid to test you kids. And now, we see that Jake was right. You all are talented to become the dark magicians, and we are going to take you all to our base for training."
"Well, now. Not all of them, Tom. I'll take two of the four girls and train them differently using my own technique." Jake's voice said from nowhere. The girls sat up instantly, and Tom grimaced. Jake jumped out from the bushes behind them, and sat with crossed leg between Avery and Bianca. "I will take these two girls with me," he said, pointing at the two girls beside him.
"Wait. You've never said that you will take some of the girls!" Tom protested, "And why you want to take those two?"
"Bianca and Avery? No! You'll never separate us!" Bianca argued. The other girls nodded, startled.
"What's going on?" Elina interrupted, "Is it? - Oh no,"
The others have returned from the horror house. Everything was back to normal like the time have been unfreeze. The people ran around riding roller coasters and Ferris Wheel. The horror house have banished - like it wasn't there from the starting. Everything was back to normal -, except for the fact that the people went past them and didn't even notice some strange group of people with all dirty and tattered cloths gathered on a grass field. Then the girls saw the weirdest thing:
Grace, Bianca, and Avery's school class have gathered to leave the park.
"Okay. Line up here!" The girls could hear their teacher calling the students.
As the kids lined up after the school bus, the teacher started calling the names from the roll book.
"John, Prin, Daisy, Donald, Mark, Paul, David, Peter, Diggory, Lucy..."
The students answered 'yes' after their names, and the teacher closed her attendance book like all of them were here all right. They rode on the bus, and soon the bus went off.
"No! What about us?!" Grace yelled,
"You've done this, right?" Avery demanded at Tom and the tribe. "You've done this with your useless magic."
"It isn't useless, girl." Luna said, completely taken back by Avery's response. "It's to make you a dark magician."
"Well, I can't see why I have to be a magician."
"Yeah. Why taking us? Take some other girls who want to become magician," Bianca agreed firmly.
The magicians stared at each other as if they were wondering what to do next. This wasn't the response they were expecting from the girls, and they figured out that the girls weren't happy.
"No time to waste. Avery and you, Bianca, follow me." Jake ordered.
"Well, but we don't want to follow you." Bianca snapped, fetching her cell phone from her pocket. "We'll go home instead." She pressed the button, but as soon as she did it, it started smoking and bursted in her hands. Bianca, not believing what has happened just now, glared at Jake -, whose hand was covered with dark mist. The mist dissipated immediately, but Bianca noticed that Jake have bursted her cell phone. The other girls reached for their phones, but it had disappeared in their pocket.
"You..." Grace bit her lip, glaring at Jake sharply until her eyes started hurting.
Abigail looked down at her feet, knowing nothing to say.
"So; what do you want us to do," Avery sighed, realizing they were no match to these magicians.
Jake smirked. "I want you to come with me."
Avery and Bianca glanced at her friends, and then left with the magician.
"Will we be able to see them again?" Hera asked to Tom, who was sheepishly staring at the horizon.
"No one knows." He muttered, "Nobody knows a magician's future once they become one."
Hera, Abigail and Grace stared at a piece of paper lying on the ground.
    "Now what?" Elina said.
"Abigail, Grace and Hera? Come with us." Luna sighed, exhausted.
"Yeah..." Grace mumbled, scooping up the paper from the ground. It was a hand written poem.

    By Luna Nally

Oh, how much I wish to see my parents!
Yet a magician's life is unpredictable and dangerous
Our fate lies nowhere, and so we make our own future
We live a lonely life, separated from the worlds!
Only thing I want is to be back to the real world and start a new life
Even though I know I would be kicked out of the tribes
All I want is to be free
