  • Lucy Maud Montgomery's book,

    ANNE OF GREEN GABLES

    -Written by Eila

It was the first time I read this book. I didn't want to read this book, despite my best friend and my mother's recommendation. I broadly know whats happen in this book since I saw Anne series in Little Fox. However, feeling I got was definitely stronger and I was touched. I was going to have tear out of my eyes even when I see Little Fox. And in a book, the feeling was tremendous.

Anne is an orphan until Marilla and Metthew adopted her. Metthew likes her. He doesn't want her to be send to the orphanage although it is a mistake that Anne has come. Meanwhile, Marilla is reluctant to let Anne live with her, but eventually likes her. Anne is a red-headed, freckled girl who always daydreams about everything. She also do some mistakes. When Anne first meets Mrs. Lynde, Anne says quite a rude thing to Mrs. Lynde.(But Mrs. Lynde was rude at the first place.) Later, when Anne goes to school and Gilbert teases her, Anne crashes Gilbert on his head and the teacher's rude attitude makes Anne stop the school. Anne even accidentally makes Diana, her best friend, drunk! Diana's mother do not allows Diana to go hang out with Anne, from then. However, when most of the adults go out of town, when Minnie May becomes sick, Anne treats her very well and in the end, Diana's mother allows them to play together. One day, Anne dyes her hair into the color of green! In the other time, she wants to keep her ego, accepted the dare and broke her ankle. Also, when Anne and her friends have a play, Anne floats in a boat when water begins to come inside the boat. Gilbert saves Anne and tries to apologize, but Anne refuses his apology. They have some fights with studying. They go to the Queen's academy together and Anne gets the scholarship and Gilbert gets the medal. Anne proudly goes back to home. However, Metthew dies and Marilla's health becomes worse. Anne decides to stay at home and teach instead of going to Redmond. Gilbert gives Anne the chance to be a teacher in school of Avonlea. And they becomes friend.

I like Anne. I like her daydreaming, imagining things, talking and talking, everything. But when I read this book, I wanted her to be less impulsive. She did something with impulsiveness. Think about Mrs. Lynde incident, Gilbert incident, ankle incident, hair incident... I think these behavior have impulsiveness. Three of what I mentioned are about her complex, the red hair. I'd rather stay calm and ignore it. Or say "Yeah, my hair is so red that its so attractive!" with a teasing tone. Well, red hair has a charm. Anyway, I want to see the scenery Anne sees everyday. I wish my surroundings are similar with that description. Whenever I think of her fascinating surroundings, I want to live there. With nature around me! I think I'm a bit like Anne, but not my appearance. I dream and imagine things a lot, although the sort of things I imagine is different from her. There's nothing I can think of about the similarity between me and Anne besides that. Actually, I guess I'm not that similar with her.

It's the most relaxing book I ever read. If you are having a hard time, I recommend this book. Read this red-headed girl's story and be relaxed and dream, dream, dream. Be alive by being a friend with this girl who is full of life.
