 Chapter Twelve

How Draco Went to the Good Side

 Harry was in a very bad mood, thanks to Cornelius Fudge. He couldn't believe Fudge thought that he could persuade him, after everything Fudge tried to make him. "Arrogant moron" and "false-news spreader" were the part of it. The fact that Umbridge was in life-sentence Azkaban cheered up slightly. From what he heard, after Voldemort proved that he was alive, the whole Wizarding world was screaming for his lies and demanded Fudge to resign. After that, Fudge had no chance but hide.

 "What's wrong?" asked James as his father's face was screwed up.

 "Fudge, that's what it is," Hermione answered wisely.

 "How'd you know that?" said Harry.

 "George gave me a couple of their Extendable Ears, you know." 

 Harry raised his eyebrows. "You've been spying on me?"

 This made Hermione blush a little. "Um, actually, I heard you shouting to someone and I couldn't resist...."

 A grin spread in Harry's face. Hermione was, nearly 25 years ago, twitchy at rule-breaking; now, she seemed to be losing her grip to rules. 

 "Enter," said Harry gruffly when someone knocked the door. He dropped his quill. "Malfoy? What're you doing here?"

 "I wanted to say something to you," mumbled Malfoy to his shoes.

 "What? That the Death Eaters are planning something again?"

 "No," said Malfoy quickly. 

 "Then what?"

 "Well, um, at the tallest tower where Dumbledore died," said Malfoy quickly, "he told me something that made me think."

 "What?" Harry felt kind of nettled.

 "Return to the right side, Draco. "

 Harry stared at him. He had always thought that Malfoy wasn't 100% bad to the root, but he had never thought that Malfoy would return to the 'right side'. After all, his father was a Death Eater, and Malfoy was bound to be a Death Eater too. He was a Death Eater when he was 16, but now ― 

 "Wanna join the club?" Harry said sort of sarcastically.

 "Sure," Malfoy replied. 

 "The Death Eaters are having a big plan," Malfoy said to Harry. "They think it's their destiny to kill you."

 "I dunno whether they can kill me," commented Harry. "Look."

 "Avada Kedavra! "

 Green light surrounded Harry, but he didn't move an inch. 

 "What the...," said Malfoy, his mouth wide open.

 "Long story," Harry said quickly. "Can you move over?"

 "Sure. Well, like I said, they think it's their destiny to kill you, so they're kidnapping everyone who's been tight with you. The Mudblood Granger ― "

 Harry raised both eyebrows. 

 "Sorry. It's a habit, you know. Anyway, they kidnapped Hermione Granger and they're planning to kidnap Ronald Weasley ― "

 "WHAT?"

 "Don't shout, what'd you expect? McGonagall did it at the second task, they think blood traitors are second-bad to Mudbloods ― I mean, Muggle-borns. And, I bought some Extendable ears from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and they're planning to have a major war. I mean major. This isn't like some stupid minor battles. It's like the Battle of Hogwarts."

 "What's the date?"

 "Apparently they want to make sure they'd win this battle, I say it'll be like a year."

 "I'll have plenty of time to prepare then. Um, will you let me know their plans?"

 "Sure." They shook hands.
