ABC Detectives#The Painting's Missing
1. A Serious Crime
Me Anny, Becky, and Cristy became popular in school thanks to Jessie who was really thankful to us. I heard later that the pink beach bag was a present from her father-who was now in China due to his business problem.
Whenever we walk through hallway, I felt several eyes fixed to us. Some looked respectful, and others were probably jealous. I liked the feeling of that. Even the jealous-looking kids.
The next case happened two months later when it was almost fall. It was after school and we were heading to our houses, chatting. My house was next to a famous art gallery. I spotted police cars parked in front of it and many people coming in and out of the gallery.
"Hmm...is there a theft or something?" I talked to myself and walked to the museum. Officer Dilan was standing at the entrance with anxious look on his face.
"Good afternoon Mr. Dilan, what happened here?" I said.
Officer Dilan looked at me. "Oh, it's you, Anny." He said. "I thought it's the crook."
That made my interest grew. "What do you mean-the crook?" I asked eagerly.
"Well, a crime happened here." Then he shrugged. "There's no need for you to know more."
This made me a little annoyed. "Please," I said, "tell me what happened. You know, I'm a detective too, remember?"
Officer Dilan shrugged one more. "Maybe you're right. You can't do worse than my crew is doing."
Then, he told me everything. Yesterday, a thief or two stole an expensive picture by Draw Well.
"It was the most expensive one drawn by Mr. Well." Officer Dilan said. "And now, we're investigating. Maybe you can bring your friends here and solve the mystery together." He grinned.
I dunno if it was a joke or not. Anyway, I did as he told me.
First, I called Becky and Cristy and told them there's a crime. Both of them seemed excited. Of course, we didn't had case for two months. When they came, I explained the crime.
After I finished explaining, they all looked impressed at this case.
"What're we waiting for? Let's get started!" Becky joyfully said.
My heart pounded really fast. We have a new case now, rather serious than other cases we solved, but we're ready to investigate.
