 "Get out of the house, quick! Our servants will probably put out the fire. Now go, before you catch the fire!" Jeremy shouted desperately, waving his arms and legs and drops of sweat rolling down his face. 

 "We're sorry! For causing all this mishap!" I cried, dashing to the door. Wynter, Cecily and Emme followed.

 "Where are we going?" Emme asked, in a half-asleep, muffled voice. "And what was that all about?"

 "There was a fire, Emme. Somebody dropped a candle and the flames spread rapidly," Cecily explained, shooting a really dirty look at Wynter, who scratched her head with a sheepish ex-pression.

 "So.. now that we're kicked out in the middle of the night and that we have nowhere to stay, what are we going to do?" I questioned, looking around.

 "I-I actually have no idea," confessed Wynter. "Guys, it's all my fault. I'm sorry."

 "It was just an accident. It's nobody's fault. Don't feel so guilty," I said to make Wynter feel better. Cecily nodded in agreement. "Everyone makes mistakes."

 "Should we knock on some more doors?" Emme asked.

 "No, we knocked on enough doors. The breeze isn't that cold this night, so let's sleep on some of the benches over there." Cecily pointed at two benches in a small park.

 "Sure. Good idea, Cecily," Wynter said. "Avni and I'll share a bench, and you sisters can share one, 'kay?"

 "I'm hungry," whined Emme. 

 "What?!" Cecily looked at her sister. "After eating practically an all-you-can-eat buffet at Jeremy's?"

 "Still," Emme replied, rubbing her round stomach.

 "Okay, okay," Wynter said with a laugh. "We can all have midnight snacks. There's an apple tree over there. I'll climb it and get some delicious red apples for all of us. What a treat that'd be!" She started climbing up the gigantic tree.

 "Careful, Wynter!" I shouted. Wynter responded with a wink, which probably meant that she was a tree-climbing expert and there was no need for me to worry about it.

 She shook the branches, and several apples fell down. We all stooped down to pick the apples up.

 Wynter quickly slid back down the tree, closely resembling a small mountain chipmunk. She counted the apples she'd picked. "....Fourteen.. fifteen.. sixteen!" she exclaimed. "Wow, sixteen apples! Let's have one each."

 I rubbed my apple with the edge of my skirt, which made it shiny. Then, I bit onto it. "Mmm, so good!"

 We then lied down on the bench, and I soon fell asleep. I had this dream about my parents, who I didn't know or remember a thing about. I dreamt that they were really rich people, who lived in a mansion. I met them in my dream and they led me into the mansion. I got my very own room and very own toys and very own beautiful clothes. I was just about to go to the theater to watch this really expensive but beautiful opera with my parents when I woke up.

 "You're up," Cecily said. "Did you sleep well? I couldn't sleep a wink for some strange reason. Probably after all the great stuff in Jeremy's, it spoiled me and made me unable to sleep on a hard bench." She laughed.

 "Since everyone's awake, let's start our journey," Wynter said, putting her shoes back on and tying the laces. "Let's go!"

 "Where's our destination?" I asked sleepily, not completely awake from my dream.

 "Not determined," Wynter responded, handing me an apple. "We'll just walk and walk until we reach somewhere. Probably some nice guy would let us stay the night or something. We'll be strays like that for the rest of our lives."

 "Seriously? And another apple?" I asked. 

 Wynter shrugged. "For energy. We have a day of walking ahead of us. And besides, apples are the only food we've got plenty of."

 "All right," I said. "Let's go."

 We walked and walked all day. I thought my feet would bleed. Whenever we got thirsty or hungry, all we could eat were apples, apples and apples. Soon everyone got sick of them. 

 We were walking in an alley near a smelly dumpster when we heard a dog barking. We exchanged nervous glances, but continued walking. Soon we faced a huge bulldog, without any leash or chain, barking like mad at us.
