  • (Wow, I can't believe so many users requested me to write Chapter Three! I thought it was piece of rubbish, or maybe even garbage, even though the first chapter got eleven emojis and stuff (I'm proud of that)....)

    Chapter Three

    The First Task

It turned out that John was only there to teach me this whole mixed-up thing, and then he casually disappeared out of sight, which I found was interesting.

He told me that Bellator was seven feet high and he had more muscles and abs than the world's greatest bodybuilder. He also said that he ruled this Stonia for fifty years, and that my mother had once fought him; nevertheless she died in that battle.

So that's the reason why Mom died.... Of course, it's so obvious to me now. John once said that Blue Stones are only inherited. So I, the only relative of hers, somehow have this stressing-out thing.

According to John, nobody had ever defeated that mighty Bellator. I don't even know why John reckoned I could stop him. If my mother didn't, I haven't got the faintest hope that I could defeat him.

I still hadn't mastered the knack of this Blue Stone or whatever, even though I practiced like a thousand times. I could conjure, for some reason, but I still can't do anything. At all. I once levitated an eraser but it only floated like two seconds and then fell.

I yawned hugely as I got up. The sun was shining, birds were singing the most wonderful melody I have ever heard, and the day was cloudless. Now that's what I call a perfect day.

I was camping in a high mountain. You might say I'm an idiot for camping in Stonia, and I should figure out a way to get out of there. Well, news flash: I already tried to find a way to get out of this place. No gain whatsoever. All I did get was John's remark that I could only get out of here if I defeated Bellator and stole this device that connects Stonia and the normal world.

Humming a tune, I walked a beautiful path but the humming only continued a minute before I fell.

"What the...!" I yelled as I tumbled down.

     CRASH!

"Ow," I groaned, rubbing my elbow, which was bleeding pitifully. "What happened?" I looked up and saw some vines. Then I got it: I fell into a trap.

"I was waiting for you, my dear," said the greasiest voice I have ever heard. I spun around and saw a gorgeous lady, literally, gliding toward me, her feet hardly touching the ground at all.

"Who're you?" I said, instinctively grabbing my Stone.

"My name is Opora, my dear," she answered with that tone that creeped me out. "Come, dear. You have a task to do."

"What task?" I asked, almost running to keep up with this Opora.

"Your task, of course," she replied as if this had been the most easiest thing in the world. "You have the Blue Stone, do you not, dear? And you have come to fight Bellator, have you not? You most certainly would not be able to even go to Bellator's castle if you do not go through this tasks that have been prepared for you, dear."

Five minutes later we arrived at what seemed to be a giant chessboard. I gasped as a giant pawn took place - it was a giant chessboard. This was almost exactly like the giant chess game Professor McGonagall made - Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to go through it, to get the Philosopher's Stone.

"Are you good at chess, my dear?" said Opora.

"Uh... not bad, but not good, either," I said nervously, remembering what the white queen did to Ron, who took the place of the knight.

"Then you must be one of the whites, dear, for they have the advantage of going first," Opora said. "What place do you prefer?"

"Uh... I guess the bishop," I said, my voice still nervous. As though the pieces had heard, a white knight smoothly went out of the chessboard. I replaced his place.

"Good luck, my dear," Opora said with a pale face. "I shall wait for you in the second task." She spun around and went outside the room. The door clicked shut.

A white pawn moved forward two squares.

The pieces seemed to be alive, because they just moved as if they had feelings. I only moved once when a black bishop moved diagonally four squares and killed(?) a white rook.

     The game continued.

Whoever made this was really good at this kind of thing, because the pieces seemed to be masters at chess. They killed the opposition without mercy, and that was both a good thing and a bad thing. Soon, all of the white and black pawns were gone. I grimaced as the last remaining rook was killed by a knight.

     Check.

That particular word flooded to my brain, and indeed, the remaining black rook was in a position to kill the king, and none of the white pieces were blocking the rook's way. There was only one suitable thing for me to do. Shaking, I moved the white queen. With a crunch the rook killed it.

I moved myself forward and diagonally, and I took the black bishop, which was aimed for the king. The other white knight moved, giving me space to checkmate the king. And sure enough, the king fell to our trap, killing the knight.

"Checkmate!" I shouted as the king threw the dead knight off the board. The king turned around. Sure enough, I was in the position where I could kill the king, and all of the white pieces were gone except the king.

"Congratulations," said Opora happily as I stepped outside, my elbow bruised but otherwise okay, "I knew you could do it, dear!"

"Thanks," I said, feeling proud of myself. "Now what do I do?"

"Wait, my dear, and rest until the time for the second task has risen," she answered, giving me some yellow fruits and a white beverage that tasted more delicious than every fruit and beverage in the normal world. "The second task would all depend on your intelligence. You have to pass through a trivia. It is very hard indeed, but after I saw you checkmate the king I think you could pass it well, dear."
