Dan said good-byes to everyone, and stepped in a old carriage with the carriage driver. Everyone waved with teary eyes, and blew kisses. Even though they were parting with Dan for only a week, they already wanted Dan back so much.

The carriage droved for 5 hours straight to a place Dan didn't know. The carriage was hot, and the air was humid. As Dan couldn't stop his curiosity, he peered out on the window to see where he was. He was in a place where it was so hot, and didn't have plants around. Like a... desert.

"Here we are!" The carriage driver shouted after 2~3 minutes. "Got, this place is so hot! Come on, hop out of the carriage, young man, so I can go back to my home, New York as soon as possible."

"O...Okay," Dan stepped out, noticing a large white building. "This place is so hot..." He murmured. Soon, he saw a man wearing brown boots, and a dark cowboy hat, and a brown shirt coming toward him. "You're the new kid, aren't you? Follow me, and I'll lead you toward you're dormitory, sonny,"

Dan hurriedly followed the man, confused. Who was he? Why was he wearing weird stuffs? Was he a kidnapper? Like he had read Dan's mind, the man answered, "My name is Frank, and I'm the... principal, and sonny, I'm NOT a kidnapper," He smiled, and returned going on his path.

When they arrived, dozens of kids, 9 to 20 was lined up in the hallway very seriously. Dan watched the kids as Frank placed him in the middle of the line and walked in the front of the line. "Kids (Maybe not, since 20 wasn't kid), I'm Frank, and I'm the principal. Now, I'll tell you who will be your dormitory friends. Grace, Adam, Bill, Della, and Dan is in A dormitory..." That was all Dan had to hear. He watched his dormitory 'friends' talking with each other. Suddenly, a blond girl smiled and began to introduce herself to Dan. "Hi! I'm Grace, it's very nice to meet you, Dan!" Dan smiled, and introduced himself too. He began to like his friends.

For nearly 3 days straight, Dan focused researching about plants near the desert. He was very excited, and every time Dan fell asleep, he always dreamed getting the first prize.

"Wow, your plant is wonderful, Dan!" Grace, who was now his best friend in camp, complimented. She peered down at the plant Dan was researching. "My plant is not interesting than yours. Well done, Dan!"

"Thanks. I've been researching for decades (exactly 3 days)!" Dan said, blushing. He really wanted to win the prize. "Yours look good too, Grace."

In the day of the 'D-Day', he explained his plant to the people very correctly, not making a single mistake. He was surprised he could to that great as well.

But suddenly, Grace stood up, and shouted, "Dan took MY plant! It was MY plant!" She cried, holding up script of hers, which was exactly the same as Dan's. Everyone was eyeing Dan, whispering. Dan blushed furiously. Why was his best friend Grace doing this?

The principal stood up. "I know that Dan was researching the plant first, 'cause I saw his plant with my own two eyes. Grace, you have been cheating. I thought you were much more mature than this. Please take your seat."

Even though the principal had concluded Dan was innocent, Dan didn't know sure if he could win the prize, because the people was dirty-looking on him. 

"Now, I'll announce the third place. Jake! Congrats! Please step onstage!" A surprised red headed boy with freckles stepped onstage. "The second place is, Della!" The brown haired girl with a headband hurried onstage. Now, Dan already lost his hope. He wasn't even in the third place. "The first place is... Kelly!" The principal announced. Dan heart sank.

"Wait! There was some mistake!" The principal shouted. "The first place is... Dan!" Dan jumped with happiness. He was congrats with with hugs. He got is first place prize, and  stepped into the carriage which will take him to his hometown school.

"Dan!" Demi was the first one to greet him. "Did you won the prize?"

"Sadly..." Dan said, pretending to be sad. "I won first prize, Demi!" Mr. Bauer, Joe, and his friends happily hugged each other. "Oh Dan! I knew you will win the prize! Like my Little men."
