The Last Day of Pompeii 

Have you ever heard of Pompeii? Pompeii was a rich city near Vesuvius. It's a famous world, because of the terrible tragedy

in Pompeii.

What terrible tragedy? I'm going to tell you terrible tragedy in Pompeii. But first, let me say a few words of that place.

Pompeii was a city that was very close with the volcano named Vesuvius like I said before. 

Mount Vesuvius was a terrible volcano but in all the lives, they have never seen Vesuvius erupt before so they thought it would 

be safe.

Mount Vesuvius had been quiet for almost thousand years. But on the morning(But Pompeiians(I wonder it this is the right spell),

had never thought it would be erupt)of August Twenty forth, that volcano erupted. 

The whole city was buried under the volcanic ash. In 1748, after Pompeii had been buried for 17 centuries, the king of Spain

began organizing digs there. And taking what they found. 

They found a human of course, but they'rre..hmm... kind of... solid rocks. If you ask me, it's a little creepy.

Really, I am so sorry for Pompeii.

And with that clues, scholars have learned a lot about daily life in Pompeii. Temples, restaurants, bathhouses, etc. 

They also found bakeries with bread still in the oven.

Today Pompeii is one of most popular tourist attractions. I wonder, who lives near Pompeii, have to worry about that volcano.

It's not a finished volcano, so it can erupt again. Maybe a thousand years later? I hope so, because I don't want people to

die again. After all, it's a volcano!!!

Mount Vesuvius had erupted many times since August twenty fourth,79 AD, but never violently as on that day. 

I think that's because before the Pompeii was destroyed, Mount Vesuvius had never, never erupted.

And, before volcano erupts, there usually warning signs. So, don't worry that much.

I feel so sorry about Pompeii. If anyone who are interested in Pompeii, I recommend to look a story in little fox about Pompeii.

Well, I already watched them, 'The Last Day of Pompeii' (in level 6), and 'Our World Landmarks 4:Pompeii' (in level 8).
