                                 THE WALIKE TALKIE #Chapter 3

  "I-I.." Stuttered Jung. "I caught him fainted. I think I have to prosecute him for crime of property damage." The sheriff chuckled.

"Why, what was him doing?" asked his team. "Yeah, that's what I wanna know. Tell 'em, kid." "I-I heard a woman screaming in my walkie-talkie..She said a man was running after her. She said she was in the gym and I banged the door but no one was there!" 

His teammates looked at him without a word. They looked dumbfounded. "Sounds valid right? No, it's ridiculous!" said the sheriff with sarcastic tone. "No, I'm telling the truth! A woman really seemed horrified. I had to do something!" "Either if it's true or false, you have to pay for those," the sheriff waved the locker in front of detective Jung's eyes,"plus the door. And dear fellows, what are you gonna do with him? Lock him?" The detective squad looked at each other. "Um..I think I'll just deal with him. Anyway, he's our teammate." The sheriff said, displeased, "Yeah, right. It's a pity that he doesn't get locked. But be sure to pay for those. It's 170 ten thousand one." "What? Why is that so expensive?" "Because kid, it's a specialized security system. Both of them. We have changed the locker and door into the finest devices, after..after the incidence." The sheriff sniffed. "What incidence?" Asked Jung. 

"Oh, don't you know the incidence? The infamous female student stadium murder?" "Huh? What's it about?" All his teammates nodded their head as if they know it. "What's that?" "Seriously, you don't know?" His teammate Lee looked at him suspiciously.

"You don't know? A girl died in there. A man killed her." "Yeah, it's like, 10 years ago." Sneered chief Kim. "That's it!! That's what I was talking about." Jung stood up and shouted in excitement. "What's it?" asked the Sheriff. "That's the case. The reason why I was tumbled all over the cold floor!" Listenㅡ" "No! No listening. Do you think that's even possible? A girl, who is dead 10 years ago, contacting you in the middle of the night for help? With that strange thingy?? No, no, that's impossible. Now if you excuse me, I have to go to the school to greet the kidsㅡ" "Wait, wait, wait. I'm telling the truth! I mean, why would I lie to you? My walkie talkieㅡoh where is it? Where is my walkie talkie?" "Because you don't want to hand in the money for repair. If you had your walkie talkie with you I may have believed you. But there's no walkie talkie, no recorded ver, and no trust in your, your ridiculous claim." His teammates seemed to agree. "Jung, let the Sheriff go. He needs to greet the kids." said the chief Kim. "Okay..but Sheriff, please find the walkie talkie for me. Then I could show you." "Show me what? Well, okay, okay. But don't blame me if the kids have already found the walkie talkie and broken it." After the sheriff went out, the chief took him to his private room. "Jung, we need to talk." The chief started with a low voice. Detective Jung shut his eyes tight. He knew his faults. "You know you got into trouble last night. What you did was wrong. Not telling your teammates and recklessly rushed headstrong to the door, to the very spot where the incident took place without being armed was very wrong. Very dangerous. You could have been hurt. Or even got a fatal blow. Second, you brought disgrace to all.  mean, we, you, were both embarrassed.I'm sorry if my word was harsh, but you know, remember what the chief of police told us yesterday? We could be fired.  Third, you damaged the school's property. That locker and door was designed to be the best after that incident. You put the sheriff in an awkward situation." Jung lowered his head and still shut his eyes hard. However, the chief started to say a in a softer voice, "However, we thinks highly of your sense of duty and bravery. It is not an easy thing to storm out in the middle of the night especially in December just to save the culprit. People all make mistakes sometimes. And I believe in you. I don't think you would make up the story" Jung raised his head and looked up. His ex-pression was curt, as always, but his eyes were looking at him with warmth. "Thank you, chief. I'm sorry." "Yeah, no need to be sorry to me. You have to be sorry to the chief of police. He will be mad. And the sheriff." He smiled and chuckled a little. Just then, leader Kang and his teammates entered. "So, chief, did you chewed Jung out?" He playfully nudged Jung. "Not necessarily." answered the chief. "Yeah, Jung, you did nothing wrong. Actually, you did wrong, but I believe in you." Leader Kang patted him on the back. "Everyone could make mistakes. It's okay." said his teammates. "Thank you, thank you everyone..." Jung hugged his teammates. He really felt appreciation to his teammates. "Well, well, well," Just then, they heard somebody behind. "What a beautiful sight! I could cry!" The owner of this sarcastic voice was, of course, the chief of police."I'm truly sorry, sir. Jung made a mistake." Leader Kang and Chief Kim quickly smoothed over. "Yeah, you should be. You'd let me down, again!" He glared at Jung. "You! Now, now, our little Jung got into trouble!," He rapped Jung on the head, "Now what are we gonna do! What a disgrace, shame, to all of us!" Everyone dropped their eyes. "You think I can't dismiss your team? You think I can't fire you? Yes, yes I can. Yes I can! Let's see what happens." Then he stormed out of the room. After the chief of police was gone, everyone was down. They didn't say a word. All of a sudden, a loud 'ring' sound broke the silence. "Hello?," Jung answered the phone, "Hello? This is Park, the sheriff," Jung could feel something happened from his voice, "We..we've find it. The walkie-talkie. And you were right!" He was talking so quickly that Jung couldn't hear him well. "I said, you were right! Indeed there is a shrieking sound of a woman!"
