"What do you mean Charlotte?" Mrs. Blackwell asked.

 Charlotte hesitated, and then continued.

"I saw Mari switch papers with Chris." Charlotte said.

 Oh boy. Mari thought that she was doomed. She already imagined being punished by her mother.

 "Is this true Marissa?" Mrs. Blackwell asked, in Mari's real name, which Mari knew that she was being serious.

 Mari didn't dare to answer that question. She just stared at the floor.

 "Go back to your seats. I'll talk to Mari at recess." Mrs. Blackwell. Her voice was stern but gentle.

   As Mari trudged back to her seat, she noticed a girl looking at her. Mari recognized her as Polly Parker, the genius girl. Polly started kindergarten an year earlier than the other kids her same age. Mainly, because she was so smart. She knew how to complete 3rd grade math sheets when she was just a kindergartner. 

 Polly's parents then, decided to skip a grade when she was a 3rd grader. As a result, Polly was supposed to be in 4th grade this year, but she had moved up to the 5th. Because of those reasons, Polly was smaller then the most kids her age. 

 As Mari sat down, Mrs. Blackwell started math class. 

 "Who can tell me the answer of 234x768?" Mrs. Blackwell asked.

 Of course, Chris knew how to do figure the question out. As she opened her notebook, she started to write: 234x768 in her neat handwriting, when she was interrupted because Polly had raised her hand. 

 "Yes Polly?" Mrs. Blackwell called on her.

 "The answer to 234x768 is 179,712." Polly answered. 

 Mari took a peek at Chris's table. Chris had just finished writing the question and started to solve it.

 "Very good Polly." Mrs. Blackwell said, smiling.

 "You may receive a sticker from me at recess, and then, put it on your tree." Mrs. Blackwell said.

 Mrs. Blackwell had a system. If you are good, Mrs. Blackwell will give you a sticker that you can put on a little booklet called "The Tree". Then, if you collect 50 of them, you can pick a prize from the mystery box. 

 Next, Mrs. Blackwell asked the class few more math questions. Polly answered them all, and got all of them correct. 

 When it was time for recess, all of the kids rushed out of the room except for Polly and Mari. Chris and Charlotte were going to the library.

 Mari noticed that Polly had a few purple streaks on her blond hair. She was wearing a pink sweater with a one-size-too-short jeans. She looked excited as Mrs. Blackwell handed her five stickers. Polly rushed to her seat to put her stickers on her booklet, and then, ran outside.

 "Now Mari, I know you are thinking that I am going to punish you. But, i'm not going to."  Mrs. Blackwell said. 

 Mari was very surprised by her teachers words.

 "I always try to give my students a second chance. However, no third chances." Mrs. Blackwell put in.

 Mrs. Blackwell pulled out her test, then gave her the paper with the F on it.

 "You may go out now." 
 This was proof that Mrs. Blackwell was a good teacher.

 Mari ran outside to find Polly.

 "Hey. You're Polly, right?" Mari asked Polly.

 "Yeah. You're Marissa Maxwell. Nice to meet you." Polly said.

 "Call me Mari. Anyways, how did you dye your hair?" Mari asked.

 "You mean this thing?" Polly ran her hand through her purple hair streaks.

 "Simple. I just got hair dye from the mall." Polly shrugged.

 "I was thinking of dying my hair...." Mari said.

 "Really? Let me dye it for you! I'm an expert at it!" Polly grinned.

 "Let's go to my house after school." Polly added.

 After school was over, Polly and Mari went to the mall. Polly dragged Mari to the 'Hair dye' section.

"Now, the hardest decision of all!" Polly said,

 "Choosing your color!" she added.
