A Question for Me#9

Who am I?

  Ashley felt heavy as she entered her house. Her mom was staying at home for this month, after all her busy schedules. Ashley would be very happy if she would be staying for that long, but she isn't now. The house was quiet, like before, but was different. She could feel the difference after when Zoe left and when her mother was at her room - After Zoe left, the house was warm, but when her mom was at house, it felt very hard and cold. Ashley wondered if this was only her feelings or real.

  Ashley glanced at her mother's room which was closed, and went to her room and also shut the door behind. She thought about what Zoe said to her; she didn't want to go to WSKA, but Ashley was sure what her mom's respond would be. 

  'Don't think of your mother, only think of yourself ' - Zoe's word kept appearing in her head, and she couldn't get rid of it. She really don't want to go there, and that's what is good for her. But, saying to her is not what is good for her mother, and is also not good for her. She sighed. She really don't know what to do. Just then, a question popped into her head.

 'Who am I?'

  Is me my mom's or mine? What makes me to exist? For me, or my mom? Why am I struggling because of a person I love?

More and more questions popped into her head. Ashley really wanted to know; who was she?

  After many thinking, she finally came up with her answer. 'I am me, and I have my rights to do what is best for me and what makes me happy. Mom will think same as me, since she is my mom, and that's what makes me to exist - for me and my mom.'

  Repeating her words, she slowly went down the stairs and stopped in front of her mom's room. She took a deep breath, and put her hand on the door to knock. Suddenly, the door opened and her mom appeared. She was also surprised to see Ashley in front of her door, as well as Ashley who was stunned by the sudden appearance.

  "What are you doing here?" She asked coldly.

  "Uh .. I have something to say." Ashley said, looking down at the ground.

  "What is it? Say quickly. I don't want to take this long." She answered.

  " .. I don't want to go to WSKA." said Ashley, quiet but clear.

  " .. Really?"

  Unexpectedly, her mom's answer was warm and kind, not the way Ashley thought. She was sure that she would be angry.

  "If you really don't want to go there, you may." Her mother said.

  " .. Why? Are you not angry?" asked Ashley, confused.

  "I thought about you and what you said after that day when we had a little fight. I thought I was doing my best for you, and you have everything you need. But I guess I was wrong. I felt stupid and angry toward myself, who cannot allow my only one precious daughter to have at least a little rest after your huge amount of homework. I felt sorry for you, and wanted to apologize to you." She said. "I heard everything about you, and you can. Of course, it will be the nice choice for you and I respect your opinion."

  "How do you know everything ..? I didn't said to you .. " Ashley said, more confused.

  "From your only friend, Zoe." said her mother. "I met her today, and she told me everything you said and what what she said. I'm really sorry for you, and feel embarrassed in front of you. I'm really sorry .. Will you forgive me, as my only one precious daughter?"

  Tears ran down her mother's cheek and her face as she said those words.
