Chapter Seven

“Wake up, sleepyhead!”

It was the next morning. Julian woke Ramadeus up. He yawned.

“What?” He asked.

“What? What do you mean? Today’s the big day, and you’re late!”

“Oh, right.”

“Now we need to get ready.”

”Get ready for what? Only the mermaids become chosen for successors anyway.”

“No, I mean, Great Garvarn told me that we need to get ready because leaders from different tribes are coming.”

“Fine. Coming.“ He groaned.

After a few hours, the time had come to choose a successor.

Garvarn stood in the high tower when everyone gathered around. Everyone was talking and gossiping. Garvarn cleared her trought, and the voice died out.

“According to our ancestor’s thoughts, and the rule of the sea, it is time to choose the successors for our tribe,” Garvan said.

Everyone cheered, and looked at her with glowing eyes.

“So now I will listen to my ancestors, and see what the ancestors want me to decide. Emily decided to make..........Esteria and Gomaz successors for the tribe, and---,”

“Esteria! Gomaz! Esteria! Gomaz!” The crowd cheered.

Esteria gasped with pride, and yelped,

“I’m going to be a successor! I’m going to be a successor! Thank you so much, dear Emily!

But Gomaz just nodded.

“I knew that I’ll be the successor. Just as I though.”

But no one heard her.

“Ehem, please let me finish first. And Nilah decided to make Flothitina and..... Huh..........?”

“What is it?” The Pill Charger, Naurlda asked.

But the crowd was cheering, “Flothitina! Flothitina!”

“What? Me? Oh, thank you, Nilah! Your granddaughter is a successor!” She gasped in pride and surprise.

“No, no, no! I’m not finished! So can’t you wait? Nilah decided to make Flothitina and........... R.....r.......r.........”

“Nilah decided to make who the successor?” Naurlda asked impatiently.

“Oh.... she decided to make Flothitina and Ramadeous successor.........” Garvan said, and gasped.

“What? are you joking? Joking?”

“How can Nilah say that?”

“Is that true?” Naurlda asked.

“Yes. It is true. Nilah decided to make the successor Ramadeous.”

“But mermen never become a successor!”

"No way!"

"Impossible!"

Suddenly, they heard a loud cry

“No! I was deserved to be the successor beside my sister! Not an annoying merman!”
