  •  All about Cinderpelt

Cinderpelt used to be a medicine cat of ThunderClan, and many people likes her. That's why I'm going to write an essay about her.

I'll tell you her appearance first. She's officially described as a 'dark gray she-cat', and at the apprentice ceremony, Fireheart thought she was 'smudge' cat.

Cinderkit, as a kit in the nursery, was always adventurous and cheerful, unlike her brother Brackenkit, who was quiet and hesitant. She was so much eager to become a warrior. Cinderkit already showed that she had enough loyalty and eagerness to become an excellent warrior and credit for her Clan.

As I said already, Cinderpelt was a medicine cat, but she didn't start off as apprentice of Yellowfang, the medicine cat. Instead, she wanted to become a warrior like any other kits. So her first mentor was Fireheart, who was a new warrior back then along with Graystripe. They wasn't expected to have apprentices so early, since there were other warriors with more experiences than they did. But after some consideration, Bluestar, leader of ThunderClan, decided that Fireheart would be Cinderkit's apprentice, and Graystripe would be Brackenkit's.

After Cinderkit became Cinderpaw, she made a nice progress with her warrior training, mostly for her eagerness and attention. She regarded Fireheart as a great mentor some time later. But one day, when Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw rested a day from their training, something that changed her life forever happened.

That day, Yellowfang announced that Bluestar caught greencough. So Fireheart volunteered to gather catnip for her, when Dustpaw raced into the camp. He told the Clan that Tigerclaw, deputy of ThunderClan, had an important message for Bluestar near the Thunderpath, so She needed to come right away. But of course she wasn't in the state to travel as far as the Thunderpath, and Fireheart intended to gather catnip quickly and get the message from Tigerclaw too. Cinderpaw asked Fireheart if she could go to Tigerclaw instead, although he refused since it could be risky. However, when Fireheart went out of the camp, Cinderpaw disobeyed her mentor and secretly escaped the camp toward the Thunderpath. But actually, it was a trap Tigerclaw set for Bluestar to get injured, which meant Cinderpaw got injured instead. It was not just an injury that could be cured by Yellowfang's herbs and treatments; she was seriously hurt, and she managed to survive, but her leg got crippled. She couldn't run, hunt or fight. In fact, she limped whenever she tried to walk.

At last, she had to abandon her dream of a warrior. Her heart ached with pain and panic, but let's skip that part. Anyway, as she rested in Yellowfang's den for her leg to get healed(not that it could get healed perfectly), she noticed that she could become a great credit for the medicine cat. Finally, she decided to become ThunderClan's medicine cat apprentice under Yellowfang. She was really glad that she could be a credit for her own Clan in any way.

Cinderpaw seemed content with her life as a medicine cat, but that doesn't mean she didn't miss the life she would have had if her leg wasn't crippled. She sometimes expressed longing of a warrior life, just like her brother Brackenfur. Indeed, she would have been a great warrior without the incidence that happened to her!

Even after Cinderpaw took Yellowfang as her second mentor, she kept close bond with Fireheart, her first mentor who taught her how to become a warrior, even though she couldn't. Fireheart often visited the medicine cat's den to talk with Cinderpaw. They were always good friend, although Fireheart blamed himself for Cinderpaw's injury.

Cinderpaw's personality also changed since he became Yellowfang's apprentice: she became much calmer and quiet. Of course, she stayed as loyal as she always was, but most medicine cats are calm and sweet(total exception for old grouchy Yellowfang!).

And, did you know that Cinderpaw used to love Fireheart? She did. She said so herself later she joined StarClan, but she didn't ever express that feeling to anyone, and carried on with her duties as a medicine cat: heal your Clanmates, and share tongues with StarClan.

Also, one day, when Fireheart visited Cinderpaw, she wailed that she couldn't remember her herb lessons. She even mixed up with the herb she learned for the first time, but Yellowfang was just thinking her apprentice was avoiding her. But eventually they solved it out and Cinderpaw got to be a brilliant medicine cat.

Cinderpaw's real medicine cat name was Cinderpelt, because her pelt was the color of cinder, as you can probably guess from her appearance part, and her name.

After Yellowfang joined StarClan and Cinderpelt remained as the only medicine cat of ThunderClan, she took Leafpaw(light brown she-cat), daughter of Firestar(leader now) and Sandstorm, as her apprentice. Things were smooth until Leafpaw became Leafpool, but then a thing happened.

Cinderpelt began to notice that Leafpool kept going out of the camp in secret. And finally, she found out that her apprentice was snicking out to meet Crowfeather, a warrior of WindClan, in secret. But of course, that was totally forbidden love, not only because Leafpool was a medicine cat, but also because the two cats were from other Clans. So, Cinderpelt tried to stop Leafpool, and even spring at her, but Leafpool fled from her Clan with Crowfeather to spend rest of her life with him. Later, she said that she wouldn't force her apprentice to do anything. From this comment, you can guess what a kind medicine cat and mentor she is.

When Cinderpelt was still active as a medicine cat, ThunderClan got to badger attack from countless badgers, because the cats drove some badgers out of their territory. But the thing was, Sorreltail's kits, also kits of Brackenfur, Cinderpelt's littermate, were coming out at the moment. Cats blocked the entrance of the nursery so no badgers could come in, while Cinderpelt helped with the delivery.

But she died in the badger attack, trying to save Sorreltail's kits. The kits were safe, and Sorreltail named one gray she-cat Cinderkit.

At first cats thought it was a coincidence, but it was not. One day, Leafpool, returned to ThunderClan as a medicine cat, had a dream from Spottedleaf, formal medicine cat and currently in StarClan, that showed that Cinderkit was Cinderpelt.

You see, after Cinderpelt died as a medicine cat and didn't ever had a life as a warrior, StarClan decided that Cinderepelt would have a second life, this time as a warrior. Instead, new Cinderkit didn't remember about her last life as Cinderpelt. Although, sometimes she talked about the old forest the Clans left, or about her knowledge about herbs, which showed that Cinderpelt's memory still lived buried under the current memories.

After Cinderkit became Cinderpaw, and Cinderheart, a real warrior of ThunderClan as she wished in her last life as Cinderpelt, she finally realized who she really was, and get a real confusion about who she was: Cinderpelt, or Cinderheart? Would she become a medicine cat, or keep being a warrior?

But finally, she decided to enjoy her warrior life, and get Lionblaze as her mate, and have kits as well.

Cinderpelt had a some life: get her leg crippled, become a medicine cat, have her apprentice in love with a WindClan warrior, and gain a second life... but every single choices she made both in the two lives were the best for herself and her Clan, and I really appreciate Cinderpelt who overcame all her hardness and had an honorable lives as a medicine cat and as a warrior, with her loyalty and her eagerness as same as they have been when she was a bounding kit in the nursery.
