Wukong jumped to his feet and pulled out his iron bar. "Who did that?"
Bippo hid behind Roxy's head. "Scary, him."
Roxy grinned. "Sorry, Wukong!"
Wukong lowered his iron bar. "Rocket Girl! What are you doing here?"
"We need your help." Roxy introduced him to Cozlin. Bippo peeked out from behind Roxy's head.
"A demon!" Wukong raised his iron bar. Bippo hid under Roxy's cape.
"No!" Roxy cried. "This is Bippo—he's with us." Roxy held Bippo out for Wukong to see.
"Scary, you!" Bippo said.
Wukong looked confused. "Is he a spirit?"
Roxy giggled. "Nope. He's a robot."
Cozlin snorted. "Roxy, how is this, um, thing going to help us?"
Wukong frowned. "I'm not a thing. I'm Sun Wukong, the Monkey King! I once defeated Heaven's entire army!"
Cozlin held up her hands. "Okay, okay! We need your help destroying a robot army."
"I'd like to help you," Wukong said. "But I must find the Tang Monk, Bajie, and Wujing. I think they were kidnapped by chipmunk demons."
"Chipmunk demons?" Roxy raised an eyebrow. "Your world is strange, Wukong. But what if we help you? Then could you help us?"
"Sure," Wukong said. "I was saying earlier that I was bored. Today is turning out to be exciting. We just need to figure out where the demons are. Demons usually live on mountains, but there aren't any mountains here."
He flew up into the air. In the distance he saw a dark cloud near a wide river. "Aha! Demons!"
He led Roxy and Cozlin to the spot and found a cave in the bank of the river. The cave's entrance was blocked by a heavy-looking door. Creepy twisted trees stood tall along the river.
"This place is spooky," Roxy said.
Wukong waved a hand. "Trees can't hurt you."
He took out his iron bar and smashed the door. "Release my friends right now. Or I'll smash this entire cave and destroy every single one of you!"
The chipmunk demons hurried out.
"How dare you yell at us!" one of them said.
"Look at this," another one said, pointing to the broken door. "He smashed our door!"
"That is so rude," the third chipmunk demon said.
Roxy tried not to laugh. "These are demons, Wukong? They look kind of cute."
"Grr!" The chipmunk demons attacked.
"Ahh!" Roxy swatted one demon with her hand. Poof! The demon turned into a regular chipmunk, which scurried away into the forest.
Cozlin hit a second demon with a laser blast. Poof! It also turned into a regular chipmunk and scurried away. The third demon took a step back as Wukong raised his iron bar.
"You should all leave," the demon said. "Our boss is going to be very angry with you!"
Wukong laughed. "I'm not afraid of chipmunks!"
"He's not a chipmunk," the demon said. "He's bigger."
Wukong laughed again. "Oh, really? What type of demon is he? A squirrel demon?"
Just then thick branches grabbed Wukong, Roxy, and Cozlin.
"I'm the Demon of Mighty Roots," a deep voice said. "I'm going to eat the Tang Monk and live forever!"
