"Oh no!" Ivy thought as she and Glen ran to Ezra. By accident, he'd switched on the PA system with his elbow.
Glen reached over and turned off the switch.
Ezra quickly said good-bye to his parents and ended his call. He looked panicked. "Did everyone in camp just hear my phone call?"
"Um, only part of it," Ivy said.
"Yeah, only part of it." Glen patted him on the back. "The worst part."
"Ugh!" Ezra groaned.
Glen grabbed some more brownies and put the box away. "Here, Ezra, have a brownie. Actually—have four brownies."
Ezra tried to eat one, but he was too worried. "I feel sick."
So Glen ate the brownies for him.
The kids left the office. Outside, the Ucks were waiting along with Clara and Willow.
"Hey, Snuggy Wuggy!" Chuck yelled.
The Ucks roared with laughter.
"Do you miss your mommy and daddy, Snuggy Wuggy?" Huck asked.
Clara frowned at the three boys. "I think it's sweet that Ezra misses his parents."
"Me too!" Willow said.
That just made the Ucks laugh harder.
Ivy looked at Ezra and saw that his face was bright red.
"Cut it out," she said to the Ucks.
"Hey, where's our candy?" Huck asked, holding out his hand.
Ivy crossed her arms. "You're not getting any candy from us!"
"Ha-ha! Ivy's kidding," Glen said. "See, here's your candy." He emptied his pockets and gave the other campers all his candy.
"Thanks, Glen!" Clara and Willow said together.
The Ucks didn't thank him because they were too busy stuffing candy into their mouths.
Soon Mrs. Matsak returned from inspecting the cabins. The kids quickly hid their candy behind their backs.
"Private wants everyone at the ball field," she said. "It's time for the baseball game!"
When the game started, Ivy was in right field. Glen was playing center field.
Ivy moved closer to Glen. "I can't believe you gave all your candy to the Ucks! They were teasing Ezra."
Glen kicked at the grass. "I . . . didn't give them all my candy. You still have some in your pockets."
Ivy glared at him. "Yeah, I do, and you're not getting it back! You'll just waste it on the Ucks."
Ezra was on the other team, and now he was at bat. He stepped up to the plate.
"Snuggy Wuggy! Snuggy Wuggy!" Chuck chanted from third base. Ezra swung and missed.
Now more kids were chanting. "Snuggy Wuggy! Snuggy Wuggy!"
Ezra quickly got two more strikes. He was out. Slowly he walked back to the bench and slumped down.
Ivy punched her fist into her glove. "I want to teach the Ucks a lesson somehow!"
"What will you teach them? I don't think they like drawing," Glen said.
"We have to stop them," Ivy said. "They're bullies. They took all your candy, and they won't stop teasing Ezra. Maybe we could scare them!"
"The Ucks didn't take my candy. I gave it to them. And now they're my friends," Glen said. "I can just talk to them and tell them to leave Ezra alone. They'll listen to me."
Ivy raised one eyebrow. "Oh, really? That's all it takes . . . a little chat?"
"Yep!" Glen said. "Just wait. You'll see."
Huck was the next batter. As the ball crossed the plate, he swung the bat, making a loud crack. The ball popped up. It was heading to the outfield, right toward Ivy and Glen!
