"I’m dying," cried Toad from his room.
"Get me a doctor, please!"
Rat stood outside the door.
"Look, Toad," said Rat, "it can’t be that bad."
"나 죽는다." 토드가 자기 방에서 소리쳤다.
"의사를 불러줘, 제발!"
랫이 문 밖에 섰다.
"저런, 토드, 설마 그럴 리가." 랫이 말했다.
"Ohhhh," moaned Toad.
"Tomorrow you will say . . ."
"What? What?" asked Rat.
"아아." 토드가 신음을 했다.
"내일 넌 이렇게 말할…"
"뭐라고? 뭐?" 랫이 물었다.
"You will say," Toad said sadly,
"‘If only I had done something!’"
Rat wasn’t sure what to do.
"I’m not supposed to leave Toad," thought Rat.
"넌 말할 거야." 토드가 슬프게 말했다.
"‘내가 뭐든지 했더라면!’"
랫은 어떻게 해야 할지 몰랐다.
"난 토드를 두고 가면 안 되는데." 랫이 생각했다.
"Ohh," moaned Toad.
"But what if he’s really sick?" Rat asked himself.
"I’m dying, Rat," said Toad.
"Say good-bye to everyone for me."
"아아." 토드가 신음을 했다.
"하지만 정말 아픈 거라면 어떻게 하지?" 랫은 스스로에게 물었다.
"랫, 난 죽는다." 토드가 말했다.
"모두에게 나를 대신해서 작별인사를 해줘."
"I’d better get a doctor," thought Rat.
"Just to be safe."
"I’ll be right back, Toad," said Rat. "Hang on!"
Rat ran downstairs and out the door.
"의사를 부르는 게 좋겠어." 랫이 생각했다.
"혹시 모르잖아."
"금방 올게, 토드." 랫이 말했다. "참고 있어!"
랫은 아래층으로 뛰어내려가 문 밖으로 나갔다.
Toad got up at once and put on his best suit.
He opened a drawer to get some money.
"Just a little cash," said Toad to himself.
He stuffed his pockets with bills.
토드는 당장 일어나 제일 좋은 신사복을 입었다.
그는 돈을 좀 꺼내기 위해 서랍을 열었다.
"현금을 조금만." 토드가 중얼거렸다.
그는 호주머니를 돈으로 채웠다.
"Let me see," said Toad. "Ah, the way out!"
Toad knotted his sheets to make a rope.
He lowered himself out the window.
Toad sang a tune as he walked away.
"어디 보자." 토드가 말했다. "아, 나가는 길은!"
토드는 시트를 꼬아서 밧줄을 만들었다.
그는 창문 밖으로 내려갔다.
토드는 걸어가며 노래를 한 곡 했다.
