"What?" Anna cried as everyone else gasped.
"Why do you think Anna stole the tickets, Henry?" Nathan asked.
"She's the only one with the motive and the opportunity," Henry said. "She's been saving to buy a game player, so we know she needed money. When she got to that tide pool first, she decided to go grab the booty for herself."

William turned to Anna. "Is that true?"
Anna's shoulders slumped. "I didn't mean to do it! It was an accident."
Maggie scowled. "How can you steal something by accident?"
"Yeah!" chimed in Luke.
윌리엄은 안나를 돌아보았다. "그게 사실이니?"
안나의 어깨가 축 처졌다. "일부러 그런 건 아니야! 그건 우연이었어."
매기는 안나를 노려보았다. "어떻게 뭔가를 우연히 훔칠 수가 있어?"
"맞아!" 루크가 맞장구를 쳤다.
Anna sighed. "I was about to check one tide pool when I realized that another one is shaped like a teardrop. Just like the clue!" Anna went on. "So I got excited and ran to that one."
"That must be when Roger saw you running on the beach," Cole said.
안나는 한숨을 쉬었다. "난 조수 웅덩이 하나를 살펴보려던 참이었는데 마침 또 다른 조수 웅덩이가 눈물 모양이라는 것을 깨달았어. 꼭 그 단서처럼 말이야!" 안나는 계속해서 말했다. "그래서 난 들떠서 그 조수 웅덩이로 달려갔어."
"네가 해변을 달려가는 걸 로저 아저씨가 본 게 그땐가 보다." 콜이 말했다.
"When I got to the tide pool, nobody else was there yet," Anna went on. "I spotted the box in the water and grabbed it. I thought the envelope had money inside."
"So you decided to steal it?" Maggie demanded.
"I was thinking about taking some of it," Anna admitted. "Enough to buy myself a game player. I had gum in my pocket," she went on.

"So I dropped that in the box. I thought the gum might make up for taking some of the money." Tears filled her eyes. "I know it was wrong—really wrong."
Luke was staring at her in disbelief. "I can't believe you stole our stuff!"
"그래서 난 상자 안에 껌을 떨어뜨렸지. 난 내가 조금 가져간 돈을 그 껌으로 메울 수 있을 거라고 생각했어." 안나의 눈에 눈물이 차올랐다. "잘못한 일이란 걸—정말 잘못한 일이란 걸 알아."
루크는 믿을 수 없다는 듯 안나를 빤히 쳐다보고 있었다. "네가 우리 물건을 훔쳤다니 믿을 수가 없어!"
Anna bit her lip. "Once I realized that the envelope didn't have money, I wanted to put it back in the box. But I heard someone coming. I panicked and stuck the envelope in my pocket. Then I tossed the box back in the water and sneaked away before anyone saw me."
안나는 입술을 깨물었다. "봉투에 돈이 든 게 아니란 걸 깨달은 순간 나는 봉투를 다시 상자 안에 넣고 싶었어. 그런데 누군가 오는 소리를 들었어. 난 허둥대다가 봉투를 주머니 속에 찔러 넣었어. 그러고는 상자를 다시 물속에 던져 넣고 누가 보기 전에 몰래 빠져나갔지."
Nathan frowned at Anna. "How could you do something like that?"
"I'm sorry." Tears rolled down Anna's cheeks. She pulled an envelope out of her pocket and gave it to Henry. "I never meant to ruin anyone's fun. I just wasn't thinking, and now I feel terrible. I don't even want a video game player anymore!"

Henry couldn't help feeling a little sorry for Anna.
"I made a terrible mistake," she went on. "And I owe your parents a big apology too, William."
He nodded coolly. "You sure do, Anna."
Looking miserable, Anna headed back to the beach house to apologize to William's parents.
헨리는 안나가 조금 안쓰러울 수밖에 없었다.
"난 엄청난 실수를 했어." 안나는 계속해서 말했다. "그리고 윌리엄, 난 너희 부모님께도 크게 사과드려야 해."
윌리엄은 냉정하게 고개를 끄덕였다. "정말 그래야겠다, 안나."
안나는 윌리엄의 부모님에게 사과하기 위해 비참한 표정으로 해변 별장으로 돌아갔다.
"Come on, you guys," Maggie said to the others. "We have one more treasure to find!"
They all ran to the bandstand. A cooler with a skull and crossbones sat there. Henry read the note that was taped to it.
"We're supposed to carry the cooler back to William's beach house," he informed his friends.

"It will get filled up with something there."
As they hurried back to William's house, The Lemonade Detectives talked about the case. "How did you figure out that Anna was the thief?" Maggie asked Henry.
Henry shrugged. "It was the only answer that fit all the clues."

"A few things still don't make sense though," Cole said. "Why was Nathan acting weird all day?"
They looked at Nathan. "Ah-choo!" Nathan sneezed.
Henry smiled. "Another case closed," he said. "Nathan caught his sister's cold and isn't feeling well. That's why he's grumpy today!"

"Okay," Maggie said. "But I have another question. Why was Roger hanging around us all day?"
They'd just come within view of the beach house. Henry pointed. "I think we just solved that mystery too."
There was a party set up on the deck with pirate decorations!
"좋아." 매기는 말했다. "그런데 또 다른 질문이 있어. 왜 로저 아저씨는 온종일 주변을 서성인 거지?"
아이들은 이제 막 해변 별장이 눈에 보이는 곳에 와 있었다. 헨리가 가리켰다. "방금 그 수수께끼도 푼 것 같아."

Roger stood there, dressed in a pirate costume. "Ahoy, mateys!" he called, waving. "Come and enjoy your final booty—it's a pirate party!"
They brought the cooler over, and Roger immediately filled it with ice and soda for them. Henry could see Anna standing off to the side, talking with William's parents in low tones.

Henry and Maggie were watching her. "Do you think Anna and William can still be friends?" asked Maggie softly.
"I'm not sure," Henry replied. "Anna seems pretty sorry about what she did, but friends don't steal from friends."
"And cousins don't steal from cousins," Maggie added, banging her cup gently against Henry's.
헨리와 매기는 안나를 지켜보고 있었다. "안나 언니랑 윌리엄 오빠가 계속 친구가 될 수 있을까?" 매기는 조용히 물었다.
"잘 모르겠어." 헨리는 대답했다. "안나는 자기가 한 일을 매우 후회하는 것 같지만, 친구는 친구의 것을 훔치지 않아."
"그리고 사촌은 사촌의 것을 훔치지 않지." 매기는 헨리의 컵에 자기 컵을 조심스럽게 부딪치며 덧붙여 말했다.
"Your parents must have set up this party while we were in town," Cole said to William.
William grinned as he looked around the deck. "It's pretty cool, actually."
"That's why Roger went to the general store earlier," Henry chimed in.
"우리가 시내에 있는 동안 너희 부모님께서 파티를 준비하셨나 보다." 콜은 윌리엄에게 말했다.
윌리엄은 베란다를 둘러보며 싱긋 웃었다. "사실 이 파티는 아주 멋지다."
"그래서 로저 아저씨가 아까 잡화점에 갔었던 거구나." 헨리가 끼어들었다.
"Anna's parents also do catering, remember? Roger must have been picking up the food."
Maggie laughed. "It's a good thing we solved all the mysteries," she said. "Otherwise—"
Just then Roger Redbeard popped up from behind Maggie. "I would have made you walk the plank!" he finished. "Aargh!"
"안나네 부모님께서 출장 뷔페도 하시잖아. 기억하지? 로저 아저씨는 음식을 찾으러 갔었나 봐."
매기는 웃었다. "우리가 모든 수수께끼를 푼 게 다행이야." 매기는 말했다. "그렇지 않았다면—"
바로 그때 로저 레드비어드가 매기 뒤에서 불쑥 나타났다. "내가 뱃전에서 내민 널빤지 위를 걷게 했겠지!" 로저 아저씨가 매기의 말을 끝마쳤다. "아악!"
