"Help!" cried Bajie. Spiderwebs now covered the pig so he couldn’t move at all.
Wukong quickly grew tall. He swung his iron bar furiously at the young women.
"Oh no!" cried one woman.
"도와줘!" 저팔계가 외쳤다. 이제 거미줄이 돼지를 뒤덮어 그는 전혀 움직일 수가 없었다.
오공은 재빨리 커졌다. 그는 젊은 여자들을 향해 여의봉을 격렬하게 휘둘렀다.
"오 이런!" 한 여자가 소리쳤다.
"The monkey is a powerful spirit!" cried another.
"We must leave!" cried the third.
Poof! The women vanished. Wukong ran into the house. He saw a large form wrapped in spiderwebs in a corner.
"Master!" cried the monkey. He quickly pulled off the webs.
"저 원숭이는 강한 혼령이다!" 다른 여자가 외쳤다.
"우리는 떠나야 해!" 세 번째 여자가 소리쳤다.
펑! 여자들은 사라졌다. 오공은 집 안으로 뛰어들어갔다. 그는 한쪽 구석에서 거미줄에 싸인 한 커다란 형체를 보았다.
"사부님!" 원숭이가 소리쳤다. 그는 재빨리 거미줄을 잡아당겨 뜯어냈다.
"Thank you, Wukong," said the monk breathlessly. "Those women were planning to eat me!"
"Those women are gone now," said Wukong. Then he smirked. "Bajie scared them away. The pig was a real hero!"
"Wonderful," said the Tang Monk as they went outside.
"고맙구나, 오공." 법사가 숨이 차서 헐떡이며 말했다. "그 여자들은 나를 먹을 생각이었어!"
"그 여자들은 이제 사라졌습니다." 오공이 말했다. 그러고는 그는 히죽히죽 웃었다. "저팔계가 그들을 겁주어 쫓아버렸어요. 그 돼지가 진짜 영웅이었어요!"
"대단하구나." 밖으로 나가며 삼장법사가 말했다.
"Where is Bajie now?"
"He's right there." Wukong pointed and laughed. "Bajie, the brave hero!"
Bajie was on the ground, still struggling to get out of the webs. He pretended to laugh. "Ha-ha, Wukong. Very funny."
"그런데 저팔계는 어디 있지?"
"바로 저기요." 오공이 가리키며 웃었다. "용감한 영웅, 저팔계!"
저팔계는 아직도 거미줄에서 벗어나려고 발버둥치며 땅바닥에 있었다. 그는 웃는 척했다. "하-하, 오공. 아주 재미있어."
The road left the forest and headed up a mountain. The travelers arrived at a Daoist abbey.
"Maybe we can rest here," said Wujing.
The group entered the abbey. An old priest was inside, mixing a potion.
길은 숲을 벗어나 산 위를 향했다. 여행자들은 한 도교 사원에 도착했다.
"여기서 쉬어갈 수 있을지도 모르겠어요." 사오정이 말했다.
그들은 사원으로 들어갔다. 한 늙은 승려가 안에서 묘약을 혼합하고 있었다.
"Visitors!" said the priest. "Come in, and make yourselves at home."
"Thank you," said the Tang Monk.
The priest led them to a sitting area.
"손님들이 오셨군요!" 승려가 말했다. "들어오세요, 그리고 편히 쉬세요."
"감사합니다." 삼장법사가 말했다.
승려는 그들을 응접실로 안내했다.
"You're Buddhists," the priest observed as everyone sat down. "Where are you going?"
The Tang Monk opened his mouth to answer, but Wukong spoke first.
"We're on our way to visit friends," said the monkey.
"불교 신자들이시군요." 모두가 앉자 승려가 말했다. "어디 가는 길이십니까?"
삼장법사는 대답하려고 입을 벌렸지만, 오공이 먼저 말했다.
"우리는 친구들을 방문하러 가는 길입니다." 원숭이가 말했다.
"That's nice," said the priest. "Would you like some tea? I have plenty of food too. I will prepare a meal for us."
"That would be wonderful," said Bajie.
The priest stood up and left the room.
"좋으시겠어요." 승려가 말했다. "차를 드시겠습니까? 음식도 많이 있습니다. 우리를 위해 식사를 준비하겠습니다."
"그렇게 해주시면 정말 좋겠습니다." 저팔계가 말했다.
승려는 일어서서 방을 나갔다.
"Wukong, why did you lie to the priest?" asked the Tang Monk.
"I'm just being careful," said the monkey. "We shouldn't tell everyone we meet that you're the Tang Monk."
Wujing nodded. "Wukong is right, Master. You almost got eaten just this morning."
"오공, 왜 저 승려에게 거짓말을 했느냐?" 삼장법사가 물었다.
"난 그냥 조심하는 거예요." 원숭이가 말했다. "사부님이 삼장법사라는 걸 만나는 사람마다 모두 말해주면 안 돼요."
사오정은 고개를 끄덕였다. "오공의 말이 맞아요, 사부님. 바로 오늘 아침에도 사부님은 거의 먹힐 뻔했잖아요."
The priest was in the kitchen, boiling water for tea. He was looking for rice when he realized he wasn't alone.
The three young women stood nearby, and they looked angry.
"Hello, my dear friends," said the priest. "What's wrong? You look upset."
승려는 부엌에서 차를 만들 물을 끓이고 있었다. 쌀을 찾고 있던 그는 혼자가 아니라는 것을 깨달았다.
젊은 여자 셋이 가까이 서 있었는데, 그들은 화가 난 표정이었다.
"안녕, 친구들." 승려가 말했다. "무슨 일이야? 속이 상한 것 같은데."
"We caught the Tang Monk this morning," said one woman.
"But we had to flee our house," said another woman.
"A monkey and a pig attacked us," said the third.
"I have visitors right now," the priest whispered. "There's a monk with three companions. One is a monkey and another is a pig!"
"우리는 오늘 아침에 삼장법사를 붙잡았었지." 한 여자가 말했다.
"하지만 우리는 집에서 도망쳐야 했어." 다른 여자가 말했다.
"원숭이와 돼지가 우리를 공격했어." 세 번째 여자가 말했다.
"지금 손님이 와 있어." 승려가 속삭였다. "스님과 일행 세 명이야. 하나는 원숭이고 다른 하나는 돼지!"
"Are you serious?" whispered the first woman.
"It must be them," whispered the second woman.
"They must not leave!" whispered the third.
An evil smile flashed across the priest's face. "We'll eat the Tang Monk, and we'll all live forever!"
"정말이야?" 첫 번째 여자가 속삭였다.
"그들이 분명해." 두 번째 여자가 속삭였다.
"그들은 떠나면 안 돼!" 세 번째 여자가 속삭였다.
승려의 얼굴에 사악한 미소가 휙 스쳤다. "우리는 삼장법사를 먹고, 모두 영원히 사는 거야!"
The first woman now looked worried. "But how will we defeat the monk's companions? That monkey is powerful."
The priest went to a cabinet and pulled out a small bottle. "I'll add this poison to their tea."
첫 번째 여자는 이제 걱정스런 표정이었다. "하지만 법사의 일행들을 어떻게 물리치지? 그 원숭이는 강하단 말이야."
승려는 찬장으로 가서 작은 병을 꺼냈다. "그들의 차에 이 독을 타야겠어."
The priest returned to the travelers. "Sorry I took so long," he said, smiling. "The meal will be ready soon. Here's your tea."
"Thank you," said the Tang Monk.
Wukong looked at the priest and suddenly felt suspicious.
승려는 여행자들에게 돌아갔다. "오래 걸려서 미안합니다." 그는 미소를 지으며 말했다. "식사가 곧 준비될 것입니다. 여기 차가 있어요."
"고맙습니다." 삼장법사가 말했다.
오공은 승려를 쳐다보았고 갑자기 의심스런 느낌이 들었다.
There was something evil behind the man's smile. The monkey glanced at his tea. It didn't look quite right.
"Master!" cried the monkey. "Don't drink the—"
But it was too late. The monk, Wujing, and Bajie were already sipping their tea.
그 남자의 미소 뒤에는 뭔가 사악한 것이 있었다. 원숭이는 차를 흘끗 보았다. 뭔가 잘못된 것 같았다.
"사부님!" 원숭이가 소리쳤다. "차를 마시지 마세—"
하지만 너무 늦었다. 법사와 사오정, 그리고 저팔계는 이미 차를 홀짝거리며 마시고 있었다.
