The pirate skeleton clattered onto the stage, knocking over two buckets as he swung his sword. "Hand over all your loot, monsters!" the skeleton demanded.
"Agh!" Mr. Freaky screamed and darted behind a stage curtain.
Waldo was shaking. "B-but all we have is our lunch money!" he said.
해골 해적은 달가닥거리며 무대 위로 올라갔고 검을 휘두르며 양동이 두 개를 넘어뜨렸다. "몬스터들, 너희가 약탈한 것들을 다 내놔!" 해골은 요구했다.
"악!" 프리키 교장 선생님은 비명을 지르며 무대 커튼 뒤로 쏜살같이 달려갔다.
월도는 몸을 떨고 있었다. "하...하지만 저희에게는 점심값밖에 없어요!" 월도는 말했다.
"Huh?" The noise suddenly woke Mog from his nap. "What's going on? Are we being robbed?"
"Robbed? Ha!" The bearded skeleton roared, waving his sword in Mog's direction. "You're being pirated! I'm Pirate Pedro, and I'm here to tell you all about my career—pirating!"
"응?" 시끄러운 소리에 모그가 낮잠에서 갑자기 깨어났다. "무슨 일이야? 우리 강도당하고 있는 거야?"
"강도당한다고? 하!" 그 수염 난 해골은 으르렁거리며 모그를 향해 검을 휘둘렀다. "너희는 해적을 당하는 거다! 나는 해적 페드로고, 내 직업에 대한 모든 것을 알려주려고 여기 왔단다. 바로 해적질이지!"
Mr. Freaky peeked out from behind the curtain. "You mean you're part of Career Day?"
"Yes, and I'm the best part of Career Day," Pirate Pedro said. "Because the best career in the world is being a pirate!"
"Whoa." Mog sat up in his seat with wide eyes. "Cool!"
프리키 교장 선생님이 커튼 뒤에서 살짝 내다보았다. "진로의 날 참가자라는 말씀이신가요?"
"네. 그리고 진로의 날 최고의 참가자죠." 페드로 해적은 말했다. "왜냐하면 해적이 되는 것이 세상 최고의 직업이니까요!"
"워." 모그는 눈을 크게 뜨고 자리에 일어나 앉았다. "멋지다!"
"Being a pirate isn't for everyone," Pedro went on. "You have to be strong. You have to be bold. Most of all, you have to be brave. I'll never forget my first voyage as a captain of a pirate ship. I sailed for the king. He sent my crew and me to track down the most feared pirate on the sea. He was called Awful Ollie the Orange."

"Ooh! Ooh!" Mog waved his hand in the air to ask Pedro a question. "Was he called Ollie the Orange because his hair and beard were orange?"
"No. His hair and beard were yellow. But he wore lit candles in them. His whole face looked like it was on fire."
"Did you ever track down Ollie?" Ben asked.
"오오! 오오!" 모그는 페드로에게 질문하기 위해 한 손을 공중에 흔들었다. "머리카락과 수염이 오렌지색이어서 올리 오렌지라고 불렸나요?"

"Oh yes," Pedro said. "We found Ollie and battled him and his men for a day and a night. Cannonballs flew from our pirate ships. But finally my crew managed to board Ollie's ship and capture him and his crew. We threw Ollie to the sharks, and then my merry band and I claimed his treasure."
"Yay!" Monsters cheered. "Treasure!"
"아 그럼요." 페드로는 말했다. "우리는 올리를 찾았고 그와 그의 선원들과 하루 낮과 밤 동안 싸웠답니다. 해적선들에서 포탄이 날아다녔죠. 하지만 마침내 가까스로 우리 선원들이 올리의 배에 올라탔고 그와 그의 선원들을 붙잡았답니다. 우리는 올리를 상어 떼에게 던져주었고 그런 다음 즐거운 우리 일당과 나는 그의 보물을 차지했습니다."

"But the king betrayed us," Pedro went on with a scowl. "He stole our treasure for himself."
"That stinks," Mog said.
Water suddenly gushed from the ceiling, and Pedro ducked out of the way. Mr. Bog ran up to the stage with more buckets.
"This is ridiculous," Ben whispered to Winnie. "They'd better fix the leaks soon."
"하지만 왕은 우리를 배반했죠." 페드로는 눈살을 찌푸리며 계속해서 말했다. "그는 혼자 차지하려고 우리 보물을 훔쳤어요."
"그거 정말 고약하네요." 모그는 말했다.
갑자기 천장에서 물이 쏟아져 내렸고 페드로는 피했다. 보그 씨가 양동이를 더 가지고 무대 위로 달려 올라갔다.
"이건 말도 안 되는 일이야." 벤은 위니에게 속삭였다. "새는 곳을 어서 고치는 게 좋을 거야."
"I heard Mr. Freaky talking to the office ogre before the assembly. Mr. Freaky said there's a budget crisis. So there's not enough money to fix the roof." Winnie looked worried. "Ben, what if Monster Academy has to shut down?"
"That won't happen," Ben said.
"조례 시간 전에 프리키 교장 선생님이 사무실 오거에게 말하는 걸 들었어. 예산 위기가 있다고 하셨어. 그래서 지붕을 고칠 돈이 부족하대." 위니는 걱정스러운 표정이었다. "벤, 몬스터 아카데미가 문을 닫아야 하면 어쩌지?"
"그런 일은 없을 거야." 벤은 말했다.
"I'm not so sure," Winnie said. "Things sound bad. I'm really worried about it."
Meanwhile, Pedro was still telling his adventure story. "Eventually my band and I managed to steal the king's ship and sail away. We sang merry songs as we plundered the seven seas. And whenever we found the king's ships, we sent them to Davy Jones' locker!"

"I got stuffed into my locker once," a blob said. "It was very uncomfortable."
Waldo laughed. "Davy Jones' locker isn't really a locker. It's just an expression that means the bottom of the sea."
"I've been to the bottom of the sea!" a fish monster cried. "It's awesome!"
"나도 한 번 사물함에 쑤셔 넣어진 적이 있어." 한 블롭이 말했다. "정말 불편했어."
월도는 웃었다. "데이비 존스의 사물함이란 실제 사물함이 아니야. 그건 바다 밑바닥을 뜻하는 표현일 뿐이야."
"난 바다 밑바닥에 가봤어!" 한 물고기 몬스터가 외쳤다. "그곳은 굉장해!"
"On the sea we battled zombie whales and killer crabs," Pedro went on. "Then Awful Ollie the Orange came back as a ghost. We had to fight him again and again. When it was all over, we sang songs of our victories."
"Finally . . ." Mog looked dreamy. "I've found the perfect career—pirating!"
"우리는 바다 위에서 좀비 고래들과 살인 게들과 싸웠습니다." 페드로는 계속해서 말했다. "그러다가 지독한 올리 오렌지가 유령이 되어 돌아왔죠. 우리는 몇 번이고 다시 그와 싸워야 했어요. 모든 게 다 끝났을 때 우리는 승리의 노래를 불렀답니다."
"마침내..." 모그는 꿈꾸는 듯한 표정이었다. "난 완벽한 직업을 찾았어. 해적질이야!"
Everyone had lots of questions.
"Pedro, are you still a pirate?" Cleo asked.
Pedro shook his head. "No, I'm retired now. I spent almost a hundred years in jail. By the time I got out, everything had changed in Monsterville." He sighed. "Pirating has changed a lot too. It's not what it used to be."
모두가 질문할 것이 많았다.
"페드로 아저씨, 아저씨는 아직 해적이신가요?" 클레오는 물었다.
페드로는 고개를 저었다. "아니. 난 이제 은퇴했답니다. 감옥에서 거의 100년을 보냈죠. 내가 나왔을 때쯤 몬스터빌의 모든 것이 변해 있었어요." 그는 한숨을 쉬었다. "해적질도 많이 변했답니다. 예전 같지가 않아요."
Mog waved his hand again. "You must have gotten super rich from all that treasure."
Pedro grinned, flashing a shiny gold tooth. "I had huge piles of gold," he boasted. "I had pearls the size of your head!"
"Wow!" The students were impressed.
"What happened to all your treasure?" Gaby asked.
모그는 다시 손을 흔들었다. "그 많은 보물들로 엄청 부자가 되셨겠어요."
페드로는 활짝 웃으며 빛나는 금니를 번쩍였다. "산더미 같은 금이 여럿 있었죠." 그는 자랑했다. "네 머리만 한 진주들을 가지고 있었던걸!"
"와!" 학생들은 놀라워했다.
"아저씨 보물들은 다 어떻게 됐나요?" 개비가 물었다.
Pedro frowned. "The police confiscated most of it when they locked me up. But they didn't get all of it. I managed to hide my most valuable treasure."
"That's good," Mog said. "Where did you hide it?"
Pedro hesitated. Then he looked sad as he shrugged. "I can’t remember!"
페드로는 눈살을 찌푸렸다. "경찰이 나를 가두었을 때 대부분을 압수해 갔어요. 하지만 전부 가져가진 않았죠. 나는 가장 귀중한 보물을 간신히 숨겼답니다."
