Violet laughed. "Good-bye, Rocket Girl! I'm going to the concert at the park. It will be my biggest performance yet."
Roxy stood there, holding the steel beam. She felt as if she was in a dream.
바이올렛은 웃었다. "잘 가, 로켓걸! 난 공원에서 하는 음악회에 갈 거야. 지금까지 있었던 내 연주 중에서 가장 대단한 연주가 될 거야."
록시는 철재를 든 채 거기 서 있었다. 록시는 마치 꿈속에 있는 듯한 기분이 들었다.
"Rocket Girl!" a woman cried. "Wake up!"
But Roxy couldn't move or think clearly. Her arms felt weak. The beam fell from her hands and slammed onto the ground.
"로켓걸!" 한 여인이 외쳤다. "깨어나!"
하지만 록시는 움직이지도, 똑바로 생각할 수도 없었다. 팔에 힘이 없었다. 철재가 록시의 손에서 빠져나가 땅에 쾅 하고 떨어졌다.
Bang! Roxy blinked and woke up.
"W-what's going on?" she asked.
"You were hypnotized," the woman said. "There was a violinist, and she—"
쾅! 록시는 눈을 깜짝이며 깨어났다.
"무……무슨 일이죠?" 록시는 물었다.
"넌 최면에 걸렸었어." 여인은 말했다. "바이올린 연주자가 있었는데, 그녀가……"
"I remember now!" Roxy also remembered what Violet had said about the concert at the park. She flew into a store. A minute later she shot toward Metro City Park.
"이제 기억나요!" 록시는 바이올렛이 공원에서 하는 콘서트에 대해 한 이야기도 기억이 났다. 록시는 한 가게로 날아 들어갔다. 1분 뒤에 록시는 메트로 시티 공원을 향해 잽싸게 갔다.
Violet stood onstage, running her bow across the violin's strings. Members of the orchestra sat still. They were all staring into space. Audience members walked toward the stage. They held out their wallets and jewelry.
바이올렛은 무대 위에 서서 바이올린 줄을 가로질러 활을 움직이고 있었다. 오케스트라의 단원들은 가만히 앉아 있었다. 모두가 허공을 쳐다보고 있었다. 관객들이 무대를 향해 걸어왔다. 그들은 지갑과 보석을 내밀고 있었다.
Violet laughed. "I'm going to be rich, rich, rich!"
Roxy watched from far away. "I'm glad I bought these earplugs." She popped them into her ears.
바이올렛은 웃었다. "난 부자, 부자, 부자가 될 거야!"
록시는 멀리서 지켜보았다. "이 귀마개를 사서 다행이야." 록시는 귀마개를 귀에 쏙 집어넣었다.
"Your big performance is over, Violet!" Roxy darted toward the stage.
"Rocket Girl!" Violet snapped. She started to play a new song on her violin.
"Play all you want," Roxy said. "I'm wearing earplugs!"
"당신의 대단한 연주회는 끝났어요, 바이올렛!" 록시는 무대를 향해 쏜살같이 움직였다.
"로켓걸!" 바이올렛이 날카롭게 말했다. 그녀는 바이올린으로 새로운 노래를 연주하기 시작했다.
"원하는 대로 실컷 연주해요." 록시는 말했다. "난 귀마개를 하고 있어요!"
Roxy fired her eye laser beams. Whiz-hoo! Violet leaped out of the way. The laser beams hit a French horn, which melted into a puddle.
"Yikes!" Roxy cried. "How can I stop Violet? I can't use my eye laser beams again. Someone might get hurt."
록시는 눈빛 레이저 광선을 발사했다. 위-잉! 바이올렛은 펄쩍 뛰어 피했다. 레이저 광선은 프렌치 호른에 맞았고 그 악기는 녹아 웅덩이가 되었다.
"이크!" 록시는 외쳤다. "바이올렛을 어떻게 막지? 눈빛 레이저 광선을 다시 쓸 수는 없어. 누군가 다칠지도 몰라."
Roxy remembered what Mara had said: "Temperature affects musical instruments." Roxy blew her freeze breath at Violet. Whoosh!
"Ugh!" Violet made a face. "My violin is going out of tune!"
록시는 마라가 한 이야기가 생각났다. "온도는 악기에 영향을 줘." 록시는 바이올렛에게 냉동 숨결을 불었다. 쉬이익!
"윽!" 바이올렛은 얼굴을 찌푸렸다. "내 바이올린이 음정이 안 맞게 되고 있어!"
Roxy zoomed over and grabbed the violin. "Your performance has been canceled, Violet!"
Audience members woke up. They looked around in surprise.
"What's going on?" a man shouted. "Why am I on the stage?"
록시는 쌩하고 날아가서 바이올린을 움켜쥐었다. "당신의 연주는 취소되었어요, 바이올렛!"
관객들은 깨어났다. 그들은 놀라서 둘러보았다.
"무슨 일이지?" 한 남자가 외쳤다. "왜 내가 무대 위에 있는 거야?"
"Look!" Terrell cried. "Rocket Girl is onstage! Is she playing the violin?"
Roxy grabbed Violet's wrist and flew her to Police Headquarters.
"Roxy!" said Mara. "You missed the beginning of the concert."
"봐!" 테렐이 외쳤다. "로켓걸이 무대 위에 있어! 바이올린을 연주할 건가?"
록시는 바이올렛의 손목을 붙잡고 날아서 그녀를 경찰 본부로 데려갔다.
"록시!" 마라가 말했다. "너 콘서트 초반을 놓쳤어."
Roxy sat down next to her friends. Up onstage, the orchestra played.
Terrell leaned toward Roxy. "You were wrong about Rocket Girl," he whispered. "She plays the violin."
"Shh," Roxy whispered with a smile. "Let's just enjoy the music."
록시는 친구들 옆에 앉았다. 무대 위에서는 오케스트라가 연주했다.
테렐은 록시에게 몸을 기울였다. "로켓걸에 대해서는 네가 틀렸어." 테렐은 속삭였다. "로켓걸은 바이올린을 연주해."
