Jason walked slowly into the kitchen behind his friends.
"We're making oven-fried chicken today," Chef said.
"Yum! Could we have a picnic outside?" Izzie said.
"Okay. Just behave yourselves and pay attention," Chef said sternly.
Everyone cheered except for Jason. He crossed his arms and frowned.
제이슨은 친구들 뒤에서 천천히 주방으로 걸어 들어갔다.
"오늘은 오븐 구이 치킨을 만들 거다." 셰프가 말했다.
"맛있겠어요! 밖에서 피크닉을 해도 되나요?" 이지가 말했다.
"그래. 단, 얌전히 행동하고 주의해야 해." 셰프는 엄격하게 말했다.
제이슨을 제외한 모두가 환호했다. 그는 팔짱을 끼고 얼굴을 찡그렸다.
"What's wrong? You're as grumpy as Chef!" Bobby said.
"I heard that, Bobby!" Chef snapped.
"Sorry, Chef," Bobby said. "I'll do the first step."
Bobby put a half cup of butter in a pan. Chef turned on the oven. He put the pan inside to melt the butter.

"다 들린다, 바비!" 셰프가 쏘아붙였다.
"죄송해요, 셰프님." 바비가 말했다. "제가 첫 번째 단계를 할게요."
바비가 버터 반 컵을 팬 안에 놓았다. 셰프는 오븐을 켰다. 셰프는 버터를 녹이기 위해 그 팬을 오븐 안으로 넣었다.
"Next we'll coat the chicken in flour," Chef said.
Nina measured two-thirds cup of flour into a bowl. The kids took turns picking up the chicken with tongs. They coated each piece with flour.
"Now comes the fun part," Chef said. "We need cracker crumbs." He gave each kid a plastic bag of crackers. "Crush them!"

Nina used a rolling pin to crush the crackers. Izzie found a mallet. Bobby pounded his bag on the counter with his fist.
Jason just watched everyone.
"Jason, why aren't you following directions?" Chef asked.
"I don't feel like cooking today," Jason said.
니나는 밀대를 사용해서 크래커를 부쉈다. 이지는 나무 망치를 찾았다. 바비는 자기 봉지를 조리대 위에서 주먹으로 내리쳤다.
제이슨은 모두를 쳐다보기만 했다.
"제이슨, 너는 왜 지시를 따르지 않지?" 셰프가 물었다.
"오늘은 요리를 하고 싶지 않아서요." 제이슨이 말했다.
"But you love cooking!" Nina said.
"Not anymore." Jason sighed and handed his bag to Bobby.
The kids poured the cracker crumbs into a bowl.
Izzie looked at the screen. "We need four eggs. I'll crack two!"
"I'll crack the other two," Nina said.
"하지만 너는 요리하는 걸 엄청 좋아하잖아!" 니나가 말했다.
"이젠 아니야." 제이슨은 한숨을 내쉬고는 자기 봉지를 바비에게 건넸다.
아이들은 크래커 가루를 그릇에 부었다.
이지가 화면을 보았다. "달걀 4개가 필요하네. 내가 2개 깰게!"
"나머지 2개는 내가 깰 거야." 니나가 말했다.
Bobby added salt and paprika to the bowl of eggs.
"Jason, add the lemon juice," Chef said.
Jason shrugged. "Okay." He put four tablespoons of lemon juice in the bowl.
Bobby whisked the ingredients together.
"Now dip the chicken pieces in the egg mixture. Then coat them in the crumbs," Chef said.
바비는 소금과 파프리카 가루를 계란이 담긴 그릇에 넣었다.
"제이슨, 레몬즙을 넣어라." 셰프가 말했다.
제이슨이 어깨를 으쓱했다. "알겠어요." 그는 레몬즙 4큰술을 그릇에 넣었다.
바비가 재료를 모두 휘저었다.
"이제 닭고기 조각들을 달걀 혼합물에 담그렴. 그런 다음에 부스러기 옷을 입히는 거야." 셰프가 말했다.
The kids followed his directions.
"We'll bake the pieces for 45 minutes," Chef said. "We'll turn them over halfway through."
The kids got busy cleaning. Bobby wiped the counters while Izzie swept the floor. Jason and Nina washed dishes.
아이들은 그의 지시를 따랐다.
"닭고기 조각들을 45분간 구울 거다." 셰프가 말했다. "중간에 뒤집을 거고."
아이들은 정리를 하느라 분주했다. 바비가 조리대를 닦았고 이지는 바닥을 쓸었다. 제이슨과 니나는 설거지를 했다.
"Jason, why don't you like to cook anymore?" Chef asked. "You're an excellent junior chef."
Jason sighed. "Mom and I cook together all the time. But when it's just Dad and me, he's always tired after work. So we get takeout."
Bobby rubbed his stomach. "Mmm! Takeout!"
"제이슨, 너 왜 요리하는 걸 좋아하지 않게 된 거니?" 셰프가 물었다. "넌 뛰어난 소년 셰프인데."
제이슨은 한숨을 내쉬었다. "엄마와 나는 늘 함께 요리해요. 그런데 아빠와 저만 있을 때 아빠는 늘 퇴근 후에 피곤해하세요. 그래서 우리는 음식을 포장해 오죠."
바비는 배를 문질렀다. "음! 포장 음식!"
"It's good but it's usually not that healthy," Izzie said.
"I wish Dad and I could make meals together," Jason said.
"Have you told your dad you want to cook?" Nina asked.
"Sure," Jason said. "But we never have the ingredients I need. Dad doesn't have time for shopping either."
"포장 음식도 좋기는 한데 대부분은 그다지 건강한 음식은 아니잖아." 이지가 말했다.
"아빠랑 내가 함께 식사 준비를 하면 좋겠는데." 제이슨이 말했다.
"네가 요리를 하고 싶다고 아빠에게 얘기해 봤어?" 니나가 물었다.
"물론이지." 제이슨이 말했다. "하지만 우리 집엔 내가 필요로 하는 식재료가 항상 없어. 아빠는 장 보러 갈 시간도 없고 말이야."
"When my mom is busy, she has groceries delivered," Izzie said.
"Huh," Jason said, thinking.
Soon the chicken was ready. Chef placed it on a platter. He took out some rolls and a salad.
They carried everything to the picnic table outside.
"우리 엄마는 바쁠 때는 식료품을 배달시키는데." 이지가 말했다.
"으흠." 제이슨이 뭔가를 생각하면서 말했다.
곧 치킨이 완성됐다. 셰프는 그것을 큰 접시에 올렸다. 그는 빵과 샐러드를 꺼내왔다.
그들은 모든 것을 밖에 있는 피크닉 테이블로 가져갔다.
Jason looked at the food. "I could make this dinner at home. I'll ask Dad to get groceries delivered, and we'll cook together."
His friends and Chef clapped.
Jason grinned. "What are we cooking next, Chef?"
제이슨이 음식을 바라봤다. "이걸 집에서 저녁으로 만들 수 있겠어. 아빠에게 식료품을 배달시켜달라고 할 거야, 그리고 함께 요리하는 거지."
친구들과 셰프가 박수를 쳤다.
제이슨이 씩 웃었다. "다음번엔 어떤 요리를 할 건가요, 셰프님?"
