"Amy!" the teacher called. I gulped. Yesterday, Olivia had announced that I insult my friends, so the teacher might give me a lecture about that. I walked over to my teacher. But I was startled to find her smiling at me. "Amy. I'm so proud of your good work in class. So I am giving you the job to teach Ellan about this school." "A new student?!" I almost burst out this words but I cept them to my self. Instead I said, "Where is Ellan?" The teacher sighed. "She is very shy. So I have barely seen her face after her mother left her in my hands." Then the teacher pointed to the girl's bathroom. "I think she ran in there while I talked with her mother. Go find her." I walked to the bathroom.

"Anybody in here?" My voice echoed through the bathroom. It made a strange sound. Then I heard a small sniffing sound. It was the new kid. She was sitting at the far corner of the bathroom. "Hi! I'm Amy. What's your name?" I asked. The girl looked up. "I am Ellan. Why?" I smiled. "I'm incharge of you." I stopped my self from saying this and said something else. "Um...do you like reading?" Ellan's face instantly brightened. "Of course! Who would hate it?" 'I do.' I thought, but said, "Yeah. What book do you like?" Ellan looked thoughtful. "I like [Warriors] [Sherlock Holmes] [Alice in wonderland]-" "What is your favorite?" Ellan scratched her head. "I like every single book!" My inner part sighed. How could I be friends with a girl who loves books when I hate books? But I forced to smile. Ellan looked at me. "What is your favorite book?" I thought fast. What book had I read since I turned 11? Nothing. Then what book I had read my intire life? Um...maybe ABC book? OMG. I can't say my favorite book is the ABC book because the book that I only read was that! So I said, "Harry Potter?"

Ellan's eyes twinkeld. "Me too! I especially liked when Harry was declared Gryffindor! It was so sad when Dumble Door dies at the end...don't you?" I gulped. What was Gryffindor and Dumble Door anyway? A bird and a door? So I said, "Yeah. It was so sad when the door breaks at the end." Ellan looked strangly at me. "A door breaks?" I shook my head. "I mean...um when Harry gets his bird! No I mean when Harry gets a Gryffin-" "Yeah! I like it when Harry gets a owl for his birthday!" I sighed. I had to thank the author for making Harry get a bird. Or Ellan might have guessed that I was lying! Anyway, this talk was too dangerous. I had to turn this Harry Potter to something else. "Um...Ellan? Lets go outside. I'll tell you about the school."

30 minutes later (my precious lunch time! Though I don't have anybody to play with...) we were back in the class. I had showed Ellan the school libray, the school cafeteria, and the school gym. I had to pull Ellan out of the school libray. Ellan told me that her old school didn't have any of these. And the town libray was about a mile from her home. So Ellan was delighted to know that she can go to the libray whenever she wanted in school time (except class time). When the kids in our class saw Ellan, they were busy to get her attention. But I still don't know what was so precious about a new kid. In fact, all this kids were knew to me, except some kids who I was in the same class in 3rd grade. I enjoyed the attention anyway. After Olivia's words, most of the kids avoided me. But now, they were asking me questions about Ellan.

As the teacher said, Ellan was very shy indeed. It was a good thing to ask her about the books because now, she didn't let anybody speak to her. So the kids spoke to me, witch I enjoyed until Olivia came. She pushed me aside and looked at Ellan. She made a smile and said, "Hello. My name is Olivia. What's your name?" Ellan just shrugged and ran behind me. Olivia looked startled. I knew that Olivia had never been rejected from anyone, until now. Olivia quickly turned away and chatted with the other girls like nothing happened. I smiled at Ellan. But Ellan looked shocked. "Who was that? Why did she just turn away?" From her face, I instantly knew that nobody had turned away before they got to know Ellan, until now. "She'll Olivia as she said and she turned away because she had never been rejected from anyone! I mean until you rejected her. Ellan looked hurt. "I am just shy. Is being shy a wrong thing?" I quickly shook my head. "No! Being shy is not wrong. But not trying to overcome your shyness is a wrong thing."

Ellan looked a little hurt but she hid it well. She just shrugged and said, "Oh well. I have made friends with you so I have overcome my shyness!" Then she looked around at the kids and added, "Most of my shyness." I smiled. Ellan looked like a good kid and a good friend. Then the teacher came in. She smiled at me when she saw me talking with Ellan and then Ellan smiling. "Okay class. Open your text book to page 59. We're doing math calculations today." Most of the class groaned, but I smiled. Solving math problems were not my favorite activity, but solving math problems with my friend again sure felt fun!
