    ------

"Erin Hitcher! What did I just say?" Erin blinked and looked at Mrs. Colina. "Sorry Mrs. Colina...." she said. "What did you just say?" Some kids in the classroom snickered as Mrs. Colina frowned. "I know that you're new to here, but that doesn't mean you can just excuse your self out of my class. Understand?" Several of Erin's classmates laughed. Erin nodded, her facing turning bright red. She was thinking hard about the detective stand that she didn't catch any of the word that Mrs. Colina said. In her old school, she was always the top student in every single classes, but in this school, things were different. She struggled to keep on with the classes and struggled to fit into the spirits of this school. The smart, popular girl was replaced with a tardy, dorky girl. Erin tried to swallow back tears as Mrs. Colina continued today's lesson. She wanted to go back to her old school, her old classmates, and her old classes.

When the class ended, Several kids walked up to Erin. "Hi, miss know-it-all." One of the girls said. The others snickered. "Goofing aruond to make trouble?" Erin scowled. In her first day of school, she boasted about how she was great in everything. She couldn't resist her self because she had always been a popular girl. But it was a big mistake and these girls had always bothered her since then.

Just then, someone called her. "Hi Erin!" It was Delia, with Hazel murmuring something under her breath. They reached her in a minute and the girls backened away. Delia smiled and said some nice things, while Hazel just stood next to her, making sour looks whenever Erin looked her. Finally, Hazel nudged Delia then pointed at herself. "Oh, right." Delia clapped her forehead and pulled Erin to an empty room. When the door closed, Delia looked at Erin seriously.

"Erin," she started. "I have some important things to tell you." Erin gulped then looked at Hazel, but she was also looking at Delia. "You know, our detective stand is famous around here, but nobody actually knows that I and Hazel are in this detective stand. So you must keep it a secret. Oh, and by the way, our detective stand's name is Eliain, pretty name, isn't it? You're mission is to figure out what this name means, or how it was made. You can ask some friends about it, but if you're suspected that you're one of us, you're out of the game, I mean the detective stand. We'll give you one week to solve this mystery." Delia looked at Hazel, expecting her to continue. Hazel was about to say something when a girl busted into the room.

"Delia! The principal is looking for you!" she exclaimed. Delia grimiced. "Again?" she asked. "But I'm right now busy!" "He's pretty angry about Brian. You can just don't come, but I won't undertake the anger for you." "Uh. All right. I'll come. Hazel! Continue what I was saying!" Then the two girls disappered out of the room.

Hazel shrugged as the door closed. "Wanna hear that again?" she asked. Erin shook her head. "Oh, and by the way, Delia said it was one week, but you should better find out that in 2 days. We want to make sure you're a good detective, and quick to solve mysteries."

After school, Erin was excited to solve that mystery, but a little nervous. 2 days means that she have to solve it until at least next Monday, and today was Saturday. She climbed up stairs and plumped on her bed, wanting to just stay there like forever. She was about to fall asleep when her mother knocked on the door. "Did you finish your homework?" Erin groaned. "Why? I have the entire weekend to finish it." Outside the door, Erin heard her mother sighing. "Erin. I told you. We're going to grandma's for New Year's Day!" "Huh? But now is February!" "That's when we count in the solar calender. In the lunar calender, tomorrow is the New Year's Day. Now hurry up and do your homework!" Erin sat up. She didn't wanted to do her homework, but when she go to grandma's she could see grandma and Lina, her cousin whose age is the same with her. "Okay...." Erin said back as she walked to her desk.

When Erin arrived at grandma's house, Lina and some other kids were already there. Jason, Fredick, Ava, Lina and Clara. Lina was the first one to spot Erin, and she ran over.

They talked about how was school, and finally they got to the part about Erin's detective business. "It's a secret, but I'm a detective, but please don't tell anyone about it." she whispered into Lina's ears. Lina nodded, and was about to say something when she was interrupted by a car horn. "Oh, it must be the Hoffins or the McBrides. The McBride's grandmother lives across the street, and the Hoffin's live next door. They usually come on holidays, in different days. I think both grandmothers' have a grand daughter whose age is the similar with us. Let's go meet them!" Lina said excitedly. "Okay." Erin replied with a grin. She could make friends with these kids too!

The two girls ran outside and waited until the car parked. "It seems like the McBride's and the Hoffin's came together. The car is huge!" Lina whispered as they waited for everybody to get out of the car. But when Erin saw Delia and Hazel getting out of that car, laughing like crazy, Erin's mouth dropped. "Do you know them?" Lina asked when she saw Erin's reaction. "Do I know them?" Erin sputtered.

"They're the girls I just told you! The ones who made the detective stand!!!"
