Erenzia was once a country full of wonders; always bustling with new things every day, and the country itself seemed very festive and happy. Millions of tourists from all over the world visited the land for sightseeing and to enjoy the culture that they could never see in their country. At the south sea there was a huge port; where people and trading ships went here and there, as it also played a very important part for Erenzia`s diplomacy. To the northeast there was Riciona, a country just as nice as Erenzia, but nearly as twice as bigger. Both countries were in good relationships for centuries and with other nearby countries too.
But even for a 'Perfect' country like this, as everyone called it, Erenzia always had a big problem to deal with.
For centuries, countries around the wastelands of Equath discussed about what to do with the big patch of land whom nobody owned, that was mostly useless. It was like a desolate desert; it rarely rained, it was always pitch-black like night, and it was always humid. From a long time ago, it was said that no person or creature could survive in it for more than four days without any help. And not surprisingly, as explorations about the wastelands of Equate continued, this was true.
The problem about what to do with the land was solved when the Thethasian folk, a folk with one of the longest traditions in the world, broke off a country named Aiyela and took over the wastelands by themselves. But now when the government officials heard the news, no government officials were very glad to hear about this. In fact, nobody was happy when they heard that the Thethasians had broken off and had taken the wastelands, although they agreed that nobody could ever use it.
From a long time ago the Thethasians were known for their cruel way of policy. They killed anyone who were opposing against them or the people that they didn`t like. They made laws only for their colonies, which made the colony even harder to live in. Nobody liked the folk very much, and there was much talk going on when the Thethasians officially announced the folk as now a country and named the land Equath, using the same name of the wastelands.
As everyone had worried about, the Thethasians began to invade other countries as soon as they gained independence from Aiyela. First came the smallest countries; Itoah, Prioipeth and Grenath. One by one they were invaded by the Thethasians, or now, the Equathian soldiers. They were pushing towards the east, and next in line was Erenzia and Riciona. Part of Riciona separated Erenzia with Equath, but everyone knew that the barrier would not last long. As soon as Grenath was devoured, the Equathian soldiers headed for Erenzia and Riciona. The barrier made by Riciona was cut shorter than everyone had expected, and the Equathians broke into Erenzia, ready to take over the land.
Many people flew towards the north and the south to take cover during the petrifying situation. A lot of children had lost their families during the first attack. Lia, Simon and Faye, were in the same situation, and they were heading south as they lived like gypsies. Along the way, their friends Inez and Alex joined in, who had also lost their parents. After ten days, they had reached the far south sea. The port was silent unlike the old days, when the port was bustling so much that Lia couldn`t even find room for her feet. Those were the old memories with her parents and her sisters.
Lia originally had three sisters, but they all passed away with her parents during the war. As a result, she was the only survivor. Simon and Faye were twins, born in a big family of eighteen children. As the youngest, they were being trampled on by their older siblings, and feeling like home wasn`t the best place to stay, they left home when the war started. Inez lived with her mom, and she owned the town alterations shop. But she was imprisoned for having a thought against the Equathians and Inez left to safety with her friends, as her mother wished. Alex had a fairly good childhood compared to his friends. But as soldiers, their parents left him alone at home, and Alex decided to follow his friends for refuge.
The Equathians took over the capital and separated their army into all four directions so that they could bring back the refugees who had fled. And now after ten days of walking, the kids had reached the far south, now with nowhere to go.
