  • "Sharie, whose that new girl?" Jenny Paterson whispered as she pointed to a girl who was talking to their science teacher, Ms. Panel.

Sharie Paterson shrugged at her sister as she kept her eye on her other sister, Dana Paterson.

Sharie, Dana, and Jenny were triplets, which everybody thought as lucky, but if they know the disadvantages of being a triplet, they'd probably thank god for letting them be alone, twin, or anything other than triplets.

Being a triplet, Sharie couldn't do or get what everybody else got for granted. For example, she couldn't have her own room. Her parents were too poor to afford a bigger house, so Sharie had to share rooms with her very different sisters. Of course, the triplets looked very alike, but their personalities were a complete opposite from each other that if they had different faces, nobody would think of them as a triplet, nor that meant Sharie got along well with her sisters.

Sharie was a caring and responsible girl who was the eldest of the triplets, and was incharge of her class, her friends, and mostly, her sisters. The teacher often left her class because she trusted Sharie as Watson trusting Holmes. When the teacher was gone, Sharie often made the class do various tasks, such as doing homework, pre-studying the lessons, and reading. Even when the class was noisy, they would get silent as a mouse when Sharie just put her fingers on her lips.

Though Sharie seemed like a perfect girl, she was also human. Her most biggest problem was her pride and vanity. She always desired things like pretty clothes and earings. Sometimes, she got too proud of herself that some of the girls hated her, saying that she was a show-off and a know-it-all. When Sharie overheard this rude remarks, she would hold her head higher and pretend that she did not care. But when she finally got home, she was lie on her bed, crying until her mother or her sisters asked what's wrong. Even though Sharie had some major faults, she was always a promising girl, and the only girl who understood her other sister, Dana.

Dana was the second eldest of the triplets, and she was the most out-going girl. Unlike Sharie, Dana was bad in grades, friendships, and most of all, her emotions. It wasn't that Dana was a very emotional girl and showed emotion very much, but the opposite; Dana was like a stone statue, built out of a stony rock. She never laughed, nor did she ever cry, show anger, or did anything else that expressed her emotion. She didn't had any friends, because even the most warmhearted girls would shook their heads if they spent the whole day with her, trying to be her friend.

Dana of course had good things about her. One of them was her fingers. Even though Dana seemed completely emotionless, she would express all her emotions of her day, playing on the piano at the piano shop. Her family couldn't afford her a piano, so Dana would always go to the piano shop to play. The other strength of her was her out-going personality. She didn't care what other people thought about her, which made her more confident about her style, which Jenny did not understand.

Jenny was the youngest of the triplets, but she was the most popular girl in the school. She had loads of friends, and many kids wanted to be friends with her. Jenny was also talented in art, ballet, and pretty looks. Although the triplets looked all the same, Jenny was something different. She always rolled her hair into a bun which gave the impression that she was a ballet student. Unlike Sharie who had a short hair with curls at the bottom and Dana who always scattered her hair like it was some rough string, Jenny combed and washed her hair twice a day, which gave a glam to her already shiny hair.

Although Jenny seemed popular and happy, she was not. She suffered from having to smile all day and having to keep close relationship with her friends. Jenny was simply tired when she got home, plopping herself onto the bed, her forced smile vanashing into thin air. She would run to the bathroom and rinse off the horrible make-up she and her friends had wore all day. Then she would grumply stomp to the livingroom, pull out her snacks and put them away. Learning ballet banned from eating sweets or snacks, which Jenny felt hard to keep. Everybody expected her to smile, smile, smile, and do nice things, which made her tired. She had so much burden on her backs, much more than Sharie, and definately more than Dana. Though Jenny didn't understand her out-going sister, she was sometimes jealous. Nobody didn't expect much from Dana, while Jenny had this loads of burden on her back.

Dispite this obvious difference, the triplets would come together in heart when they all plopped on their three-topped buckbed. Though their tiredness was from different reasons, the triplets would all share their troubles and problems, which made their relationships grow.

"Sharie, are you sure you don't know that new girl? She's walking over to us and - Dana!" Jenny's loud exclamation brought Sharie back to her senses.

"What's wrong?" Sharie said in a concerned voice as she looked at her sister.

"Dana...she's smiling!" Jenny said in a shocked voice as she stared at her triplet sister. "But how...and why?..."

Sharie looked at Dana, and to her shock, Dana was smiling indeed, beaming and waving her hand at the new girl, which made Sharie curious.

"Dana, you - you know her?" Sharie stammered as she stared at Dana, at the new girl, at Dana again, and back at the new girl, who was advancing toward them, trying to pass a pack of girls who walked past just now.

"Hi. Kristy!" Dana said in a cheerful voice, and she waved her hand enthusiastically at the new girl - whom called by Dana, Kristy.

Kristy finally reached the girls as she smiled broadly. "Hi, I'm Kristine Walter, but you can call me Kristy like everybody else. I've heard so much about you guys! Dana said you're Sharie, and you're Jenny. Wow, you guys sure look alike. What does it feel to be a triplet? I've always wanted to be one since I don't have anyone except my sweet granny, and my mum. So Dana and I often pretended to be sisters while Dana played on the piano. I'd sing along, though my personal preference is writing. I just love it when I open my notebook and write. But singing with Dana is lovely too. She often comes over to my mum's piano shop and -"

"Wait, then do you mean you have been living here almost 3 years since the piano shop opened about 3 years ago? But why hadn't we spotted you in school?" Jenny cut off Kristy's chatter as she asked in a suspicious voice.

Kristy's face blushed as Dana opened her mouth to speak. "It's so rude of you to ask something like that!" Dana scolded, and to Sharie's shock, glaring at her sister in the same time.

As Jenny took a step back, Kristy patted Dana's shoulder, indicating that it's okay. "Well," Kristy said in a cheerful voice, but Sharie spotted force cheerfulness and exchanged glance with her sisters. From their looks, they were all thinking the same thing. "It's kind of a long story, so I'll tell you after school." Kristy said as she walked off before any of the Paterson girls could stop her.
